Just finished building and installing my rear seat delete. Went with matte carbon fiber tubing to match the interior. Used quick release pins for the net attachment. Incorporated the ///M logo to fill in some of the blank space in the carpeting. All in all I think it turned out pretty good. I saved some weight (~45lbs), exhaust sound is a little louder, and now it's easier to get my road bike in and out of the car.

Also wondering if it would be possible to create a solid back piece (same material as the bottom piece?) instead of the ‘mesh’ - while also using the quick release pins?.

Thanks for the feedback, you could definitely make it a solid back. I used hardboard for the base; so you could continue that for back, making it either removable with the quick releases or even hinged to fold flat if you ever needed the space.

I might get around to making a how-to if I get the time. Essentially, I created a template out of cardboard which I transferred to hardboard and built a small frame for rigidity. I kept the factory seat brackets in place but created a plastic rod to connect the two. I attached metal clips to the underside of the hardboard so that it would snap into place. For the cargo net I sewed on the the tabs where the quick releases attach. I ripped a groove thru the carbon fiber rod and slid it onto the netting. The top portion is hardboard attached with velcro, and the pins are secured with threaded nuts. This is a very simplified version of all the work that went into it, but gives you an idea of where to start. Thanks for the positive comments.

Much appreciated. The ///M logo is cut out of hardboard, then I glued it to the base and applied the carpeting over everything, edging in the corners.

Few questions bc I'll do this setup on my m850 coupe. The backseat area is absolutely useless.

Are those hood pins you're using for the quick release bolts? Where did you mount them through/to? Pics of the back of that area would be nice.

What material did you use to cover that area where the backrests lock into, the area just under the rear deck?
