Why isn't my redline lit up
So, I've noticed that the redline does not light up on my odo. what gives? This is true in manual or "auto" mode with DCT, Car has about 250 miles on it.
Thanks |

What makes you think it should....?
This isn't the F80 or F82 that have shift lights. The only way to get redline to light up is on an electronic steering wheel.

I think maybe I wasn't clear. Usually the redline is marked on the odo. For example, at 7k rpm the odometer gauge marking are red to indicate that this is redline. There is no such marking on my car. This is present on every car I have owned (including my Audi, F10, MB ML, etc.).
And no, I'm not talking about shift lights. And no, at 250 miles I'm not looking to redline my car. Am just cursious |

Do you have an OG m2? That poster has an M2C which has a higher redline.

Well there you go. Different engines with different redlines = different gauge set up for RPMs.

Ok, so here are the pics. It is colored at the redline and you can see it with my car in the garage on a dark day. one pic is with the headlights on, other is with them off. I guess it is really dim and not backlit, so its hard to see when outside and driving.

OP, I'll be interested to see your picture. I suspect you will find you do in fact have a redline on your cluster. It is just not very prominent in the M2C, especially in natural lighting. The first day I had my M2C, I thought the same thing - where the hell is the redline? Then I looked a bit more carefully and sure enough it was there...
