OK, now I see it. Your original post only mentioned the M2 logo. You're talking about the spacing and the font used on the gauges, fascinating indeed.

I never mentioned the logo at all, but yes, it is an LCI M2 gauge. Unsure if redline is backlit only or if it's physically defined. That will tell if it's some weird OEM one-off or if it's maybe been replaced by an owner. Maybe this is a BMWNA early press car or something since it has 4 owners. KevinC has great eyes to pick this out of 70+ photos or whatever.

It’s not an LCI cluster because the redline would be lower for the N55. This is really bizarre. And cool.

There is a comment on the listing that appears to explain it:
Aug 23 at 9:05 PM Deud This author's likes: 21 @939 It’s a digital cluster, you can switch from km and km/h to mi and mph in the iDrive settings. |

^^ All he's saying is that you can switch from miles to km, and mph to kph in the DIGITAL display at the bottom of the cluster. You can't change the numbers on the dial because that's not an LCD screen, as some people seem to believe. The mystery continues. Still not aware of another one of these clusters in the wild.

Nah, that doesn't make sense either. If it was just the "wrong" part, you'd see it commonly elsewhere. I've NEVER seen another one of these documented anywhere, on any M2 variant. Theoretically it would have to be on a Comp or CS because it has the S55's redline. But there's only one cluster for the Comp and CS - with the blocky-font numbers, while this thing has the plain font of the '18 LCI. But the redline is wrong for that car, and there are other differences. It's just weird.

If I didn’t know any better I’d say it’s a knockoff, but why would anyone make this. It must be from a prototype that found its way into production. If this car was registered in Woodcliff Lake then we know it’s a corporate or press car. |

Look at picture number 83 of this car (link above), it has a non liner 0-80 speedo as well.

Is their a setting in i-drive for visual enhancement. Like high contrast. Almost looks liek the difference between the font being bold.

Maybe it is because it's any early production car. Looking at the registry, some of the first cars have G instead of H in the VIN. Someone posted on the BaT listing of another CS on Autotrader that has the same style of instrument cluster and that one also has a G in the VIN. Mine does not have that font, but it's one of the last ones built.

It's weird for sure. Hate to be cynical, but is that an abrasion on the dash that could indicate it's been replaced? Not sure how these things pop in and out. Two cars with the same unit would seem to indicate a factory installation.

I don't really understand how these ended up on a car that shipped out because the Comp was in production both before and after the CS. I've never seen an M2C with that gauge. |

This car was linked in the comments of the current BAT auction. It is indeed a third speedo like the one being discussed. Below is a comment from the auction. The build sheet for that Autotrader car indicates it was also, like the white car in this auction, originally sold in Canada. Option code S838 – “National Version Canada.” And it too is now for sale in USA. Whatever the case, there is likely nothing "wrong" with these cars.
