I remember thinking "man Chris isn't thinking this through. It's 1000% worth it"

I'm glad he figured it out as well. I love seeing the MB! Congrats to him on a damn near perfect car & anyone else who owns this same spec.

Also on a side note, this says a lot that even after he drove the new M3 he STILL got an M2 over it. That's huge!
To be fair, he was never going to buy the new M3. He wouldn't have been in an M2C if he was remotely interested in a larger car.
You know he has quite a few cars right? I don't think normal car choosing criteria apply to the likes of Chris Harris. If he likes something he most likely gets one, within reason.
Yes I'm aware, but he preferred the M2C over the F8X, so it's easy to surmise that a larger/heavier M car wasn't something he desired.

His list of cars is impressive, but the main BMW's to make the list are E30 M3's and old E28 M5's.

Love it! I knew, deep down, that he would probably end up getting one sometime in the future.

It's nice to see him eat his words a little and get the CS. It's the M2 to own.

CS value getting bolstered. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for those waiting for a $70k used CS will have to wait.

Agreed. A legend deserves a legend. Wonder what he might replace this car with years down the road if at all. It will need to be legendary for sure.

He still has a 1M. I guess the question will be, does he keep both. He does seem to have the space and money for a good deal of cars, and prefers so-call "Drivers cars" to supercars.

ha, did you see this somewhere, or are you just making a template for the M2C owners to use?

Lol. Although I think his M2C mods were pretty modest? 763's and a tune maybe?

888MF was the youtuber that came across to me as the most foolish of all in the 'Mod an M2C into a CS' argument:

It'll be interesting to see if the CS can captivate the market like the 1M did/does.

I wasn't a BMW guy when the 1M came out. Did it get this much attention? I know it didn't win EVO COTY

Seems like it already has. Won ECoty against a 765LT, Mr AMG bought one, then Harris bought one after being a detractor (at the tail end of allocation's drying up, so now its even harder to get). And there are much fewer than a 1M. Actual US available cars are now probably below 20 that don't have ADMs or reserves.

Harris' opinion was a key reason people kept trumping the M2C as not much different, and then he caved and bought one.

This is the same way the M3 CSL got to the point it did. It originally started as "overpriced" and now its a legend, and this seemed to have happened all over again.

The car was constantly criticized; considered a parts bin car not worthy of the ///M moniker. Then.....time passed and the car appreciated on the used market like no other modern M car did. The car was selling used for prices that exceeded the MSRP.

Yeah that was mainly initially, until the reviews started flowing in, then it quickly changed. There were markups on the first inital bunch of cars. The CS has had a longer bake, also initially criticized as a bunch of carbon bits on an M2C, and then reviews started but there were some detractors still that it was overpriced and not much different than an M2C. Now towards the end of the sales cycle, people who review cars buying them with their own money, large ADMs, and its the 1M all over again now that the cars are gone.

This has happened with every single BMW legend "saloon" car (e30 M3 Evo, e36 lightweight, e46 csl, 1m, and now CS). Rinse, repeat. Going to happen one last time in the G series cars, you can bet on it.

I don't believe it will follow the 1M because there will not be enough of them to build a cult following. They will land in the hands of poeple that know what they have, and these might avoid the initial large depreciation. The hype will be generated by the elusive nature of few being up for sale at the same time. Time will tell.

How can the Legend of the M2 CS grow? I think the next step is...

A used M2 CS sells for more than list price

There were ADMs right off the bat though on new cars. I remember bidding an on entirely stripped (no options) VO on Ebay motors, and it went for like 51k-ish.
