As someone who picked up an M2c in November, the factory carbon roof pisses me off. I wanted that as a factory option and I won't be chopping my roof off. Final specs on the CS will be interesting. Aside from the roof, everything else appears to be retrofit eligible. Weight savings from the CCB's will be nice.
I wonder if there will be suspension changes. |

There is pretty much no doubt in my mind this will be starting at 80k. As mentioned above, if the m4 CS is $103K this will probably come in $15k less.

CS wheels, CF hood, and CF roof are all part of the M performance parts for M2. You can even buy them today except for the roof, which will be available this summer. Steering, diff etc. enhancements can all be coded. Tuners already are able to export oem maps from from ZCP, CS, GTS cars and make them available to public. Would this risk your warranty? Of course it would. Don't get me wrong, CS is a great package and depending on the pricing, this might attract a lot of buyers (even current M2C owners). However, for example, there is not a single thing that is available on the M3/M4 CS and cannot be added to the other M3/M4 models. I believe this will be the case for the M2CS and M2C as well. If you are after the CS badge and willing to pay the premium then it's the way to go but saying "Much more than a warranty voiding tune and carbon fiber bits go into a CS" is not very accurate because that's pretty much it. Many people, like myself, are only interested in the tune, CF bits, and other enhancements that can be easily coded (steering, diff etc). Not interested in any of those fancy interior trim pieces or the CS badge. The biggest appeal of CS IMO is being able to retain the factory warranty while having a nice tune and I'm totally ok with risking my warranty if M2CS will be priced similar to how M3/M4 CS is priced. And finally, I don't think anybody is claiming a modded M2C is an M2CS but it sure can perform like one after the adding the changes I mentioned above.

Here's my point and I think it's worthy. I have been through quite a few cars in my life and I've gone down the "mod it road" to meet or exceed the performance specs of higher factory model and personally Im over it. By the time you do the homework and (hopefully) choose the right parts, pay for them and have them shipped, pay to have them installed if you can't do it yourself, and hope that you got it all right it can add up. Plus costly mistakes can be made along the way. Ask me how I know. Then after all that, at the end of the day you still do not have a "CS" (or whatever). Then there's that not so minor warranty thing. I get what your saying but I have learned over time that paying up front for a factory package is not such a bad deal. Lastly, good luck getting your money back when you go to sell your modded car. Maybe I'm just getting old and lazy. |

Can we move this thread to the M2C section, to join all the other overpriced and overdone cars that have tried hard (but failed) to sully the OG’s UDM legacy since 2018?
M2C... M2CS...M2CSL...M23456... all inferior to the OG - still the best looking, best sounding M2 that will be the true classic in decades to come. And it cost only 54k! Srsly, am I the only cheapie on here who values value? Or a timeless original design without ugly grilles and overdone CF? Or actual aural satisfaction? |

If the M2 CS has all of the new M Performance carbon parts (hood, roof, trunk, fenders) it will shed 23kg/50lbs (according to the m perf parts spec sheet) ...judging by the spy pics, it doesn't have the carbon fenders, so subtract 3kg from the savings, but appears to have the other carbon parts. CCB will shed 53lbs compared to the 2NH brakes. And if you wanna remove the back seat, that'd shed another 52lbs, replacing front seats would probably be another 80lbs loss. But I realized we're talking about from the factory here. Just wanted to add that in. |

Seat is most certainly a different leather cover no savings. If any weight saved from Interior, the front lip and rear spoiler add them back. With M2C, can have Wheel(can recoup by selling factory), roof, hood, lip, spoiler and diffuser for like 20k installed. There is no reason bmw don't charge a 20k premium. No mention there are the 450ps factory tune, CS chassis tune and new interior all included. It's hugely about having an exclusively designed car from factory. Personally, 85-90k is the fair price. If you like it, worth it.

So if this will still have the S55 engine, then it's total BS when they say the M2C had to be detuned partly because it lacks the cooling abilities as the M3/4 due to its smaller vents in the front... the difference in width between M2 and an M4 is only about half an inch!!! The only reason to detune it was to keep the M hierarchy

I bet you won't be able to walk into a dealer and spend less than $90k for this car in California. Comp pack cars are still selling at markup.
My bitterness aside. I bet this will be a sweet car

It doesn't in reality though. Actually, Long Beach Blue looks close to Laguna Seca if it were metallic. Misano has no green in it. Both LBB and Laguna Seca have significant green that don't often show in photographs.

CCB have to be the worst value option, though. If the car is 70k without CCB they will sell. If the car is 75k+ it's going to sit on lots like the M3 and M4 CS. Well, maybe they will sell some at 80k but only a few to hardcore enthusiasts. You can get yourself a Cayman GTS for that price and the Cayman GTS will perform better overall. You can even get a Corvette Z06 for $72k now and that car is in a different performance stratosphere. If this $80k version has the same springs and dampers again as the base M2 it will be extremely disappointing. Last edited by chris719; 02-26-2019 at 12:37 AM.. |
