So buying a 51169476754 and swapping the mount from the stock mirror and repinning should work for US homelink/auto dim?

Yes, this is what I have done and everything works.

For people looking to buy used (new is like US$700):
If you search eBay by the part number, you will only find a fraction of what is listed on there.
Searching by say 'BMW 2021 rearview mirror' or 'BMW G15 mirror' etc and then checking the pictures for the frameless type and number on the mount/bracket sticker that has 476754 in it will be more fruitful.

Also it looks like some coding is required if like me you insist on having an all-green control module tree in ISTA. (no fault codes)
Both the OEM retrofit frameless 51162471107 and the G series frameless 51169476754 did give a fault code against the FEM for incorrect interior mirror lin variant.
I have E-Sys and tried almost every available value for the variant with no success.
FEM => 3120 => PF_INMI_LIN_VAR
Gave up and set it to nicht_aktiv, value FF, which allowed the fault to clear and everything still works.

Since Australian cars didn't have the garage door opener even as an option, I had to also change UGDO from nicht_akitv to akitv.

Just received it and I think I lucked out with the 51169476754 part number! Looking forward to doing the swap this weekend, hopefully retaining full Homelink function!

Thanks to everyone who did the exploratory work on this mod!
Did this work for you? Did you have to swap the mount or mess with the connectors or was it plug and play?

The mirror is perfect and Homelink works exactly as it should - the buttons are a bit less mushy too, which is a nice, if tiny, improvement.

The mount and connector still needed to be swapped over, as it was a single row connector on the new mirror vs the M2 double row connector. My life-pro-tip suggestion is to make sure you de-pin the connector before separating the ball joint. You have a tiny bit more slack to work with that way. Also, if the pins are failing to 'click' into the new connector, make sure the small metal tab where the pin joins the wire is slightly proud of the pin, as this is what retains the pin in the connector.

For those who has the FLA High Beam assistant this mod also possibe. It's not simple plug and play, but doable with some skill.
I have the FLA High Beam Assistant version in my car, which means my mirror's base consists of the camera, the PCB is different and also the number of wires to the plug (6 instead of 4).
So the solution was to put the old base and the interior on/in the new mirror housing.
Unfortunately due to the bigger size of the PCB i couldn't use the retrofit mirror kit (#51162471107) but i had to use the G series mirror (#51166830616). The retrofit housing is narrower by 5 mm.
Also i had to lengthen one of the wires, because the position of the plugs on the older PCB are different.
I had to remove the PCB holding sticks due to different hole positions, but i used double sided tape to keep the PCB in one place.
And finally i had to trim some of the plastic in the housing here and there to be able to put it all together but it worked out well, and doesn't affect the result.
The only thing which is not working (well, actually it works just you can't see it) is the red blinker of the alarm system due to the different position of the LED.
Here are the pictures which i made during the process.

I recently changed my MY19 M2C mirror too

To recap....I purchased 51169459440 from the G30, F90 M5, G31, G32, G11, G12 on ebay used for $150 shipped.

Worked well and no issues. Just had to swap the cast aluminum mount, swap the connectors, and reprogram the homelink buttons.
