you M2 owners are all posers. I will bet you a playstation 3 that I can drive my M6 faster around the top gear test track simulator faster than your M2 civic tranny with a CF roof post-op.

You know how it goes with any of these companies. The marketing people think..."hey, it'll be great to do this and that"..."now engineers, you guys go figure out how to do it, and btw, the bean counters say you cannot do it for more than $X". So the engineers think and think and come up with this hack job solution, well, bc it's the only damn way of peeling a roof off and putting another one in.

what if in 2020, they somehow cram the S63 into the M2? f87.bimmerpost will go straight into "Now this is what it's like when worlds collide" mode?

If the next M2 has a S58 TT, Adaptive M Suspension and a factory carbon roof option, I am going to be so tight..
I've been chasing the "perfect" BMW since my 2008 335i. : https://www.autoevolution.com/news/s...ng-124578.html |

+1 people act like removing a windshield has never been done before...wtf. The requirement for windscreen cost is probably partly for port install, so they don’t have to worry during removal and to make the jobs easier/quicker.

BMW could very well conclude that buyers can't tell the difference between a 2 series and a 4 series. Even at the M LEVEL.. and not even develop a 2 series coupe for the US market in the future. They could go FWD/AWD sedan only for the 2 series next and Try to compete with the A45. Or... They could abandon small cars for SAV/SUV. At the very best , the as currently planned bext M2 will be RWD and come out around 2022 or some time... after the next M3, and the next M4, which will get full attention from M, and it will get the same hand me downs which would be an S58 drivetrain. But they could decide to make a B58T030 for the entry Level new M2 ... If you are lucky it will have a CF roof. If you are lucky they will still be plucky enough to be in a 4 car model plan and you will know that the "ALL NEW " M2 will be weak and to wait for an "ALL NEW " M2 comp, and you will know there also will be a CS .. and then maybe CSL.. which could be 5 years into the model cycle. And then suddenly you realize you've never even test driven any single GXX 2 series and wow.. an x3 is the better option for your family because you have been waiting for the perfect M2 for a decade and now you have a wife and three kids! Sometimes you have to buy the current perfect item and then hold on to it. I've found that The current " perfect item " isn't always brand new on the sales floor. |

I would hope people aren’t expecting discounts because it is a M2. The same reason if BMW makes CS or CSL it is going to be a $90k-$100k+ car. BMW charges a premium for these parts. |

Is either BMW doesn't care to sell any or just a few or the MP accessories or they really trying to move the M2 to the M4's income tier. To most of us entry-level folks, those parts are way out of budget, what's the point, BMW? |

When people see the cost, I am certain more people will bulk even more even if they are OK with the install procedure. I mentioned the roof install debacle to my wife(not a car person), she did not even realize that our F80 has a carbon roof on it. Needles to say, she vetoed the idea and I don't blame her. |
