That blows I wouldn't like knowing it was going to be sitting outside for so long before delivery (not like it really matters much) just me though.

That would suck if they have to sit outside for a few months. Birds crapping on the car, acid rain and faded interiors.

Well this f*cking sucks.

Now I have to pay 2 months for a rental car after my company rental for my move runs out at the end of this month.

Fucking awesome.

This news cost me 3 grand.

Shit.

Wow. That just SUCKS.

I'd be incensed if my ordered car were stuck outside for that long before delivery -- in fact, I'd seriously consider rejecting the car, even if it meant not being "first" and all.

The only thing that might encourage me is if the car were at a warm-weather port such as Charleston or Port Hueneme. But this time of year, that car stuck for two months in Baltimore? Hell to the noooooo. Not worth the risks.

I am in the exact same boat. My last BMW was totaled (not my fault) and my rental coverage runs out next week. I will have to come up with something else now.

Does it really take that long to get the EPA approval? The mid April date isn't surprising because the official launch date for the M2 is April 16.They should definitely ship the cars to the dealer as soon as they get the EPA approval and hold them there, instead of at the port.

I am willing to bet that the official launch date is actually because BMW knows it would be mid april before EPA certification, BMW is guessing it will be done by then. All of the bullshit about "dealers not being allowed to sell cars" is exactly that, bullshit. That's why my client advisor told me point blank he had no problem with me walking out with the demo car as soon as it came in, which is usually "one to two weeks after it arrives in port" estimated to be first week of march. BMW doesn't benefit at all from not selling the cars and having demo cars sit on dealer lots where the dealer's can't even sell a car due to lack of allocations. It's not that BMW "won't" sell the cars, it's that they can't because of EPA.

The EXACT same thing happened to BMW with the i3 extended range edition and the mini, they were late submitting the certificates and went around in circles with the EPA and BMW both blaming each other while owner's cars sat outside at port for months.

Just Google EPA BMW delay. It absolutely sucks.

Try http://Turo.com. May be more affordable than Hertz.

Unfortunately by law they can't ship to dealer until EPA approval is complete.

This. Also, the government is already bitchy about lifting a finger, let alone to actually travel to dealerships all over to conduct the regulation inspection.

I feel bad for the first in line guys, man. Wtf.

The really funny thing is my state has no inspections and I will be going catless downpipe on day 1, so the certification doesn't mean jack shit anyway in my case.

To the EPA overloads watching us, this car will be for off road use only on a closed circuit.

Oh wait, the fuckers are trying to outlaw that as well.

Such is life I guess. Judging from the reviews, this car will be worth the wait. April is actually perfect for me. We still have now on the ground here.

I agree. I'm in Northern Indiana so I would be able to drive it for a while anyway.

That is why I was always happy with the launch date for the M2 being April 16.Spring is the perfect time of the year to take delivery of a new car in Canada.

Did you decide to add the M2 or trade in the 1M?

Rent a drone and fly it over the Atlantic with an M2 infrared spotter until you see it, then leave it on autopilot until it reaches the coast.

Why can't you show the VIN tracking on this site?

It's frowned upon by BMW NA?
