Launch Control on the M2CS

Been meaning to ask, when launch control is activated, is there a slight pause/delay as soon as you let the brakes go ?

I can't remember and it's been a few years if my M3CS did the same and sold it for the M2CS.

My GT3 is instant as soon as you let the brakes go. It's quite brutal honestly and i can launch it over and over with no issues and always consistent.

With the M2CS, you can not do back to back launches and have to wait and try again.

Just curious but what's honestly the appeal with launch control? Like yeah sure it's cool once or twice but imo it's just unnecessary stress on a car. Driven 17k miles on my CS and not once did I even have the inclination to launch it. I don't have a GT3 and on a car like that I'd probably want to use it tbf but on M cars I'm good

completely understand and it's not for everyone. But it is a feature that came with the car (mine's DCT) so why not try it just for once. You're launching it at 3500 rpm and I wouldn't worry about drivetrain shock too much. It slips the clutch a bit and doesn't just drop it like you would do on a manual. It's an M car and quite robust. These are also street tires we're using and not drag radials and most of the time you're just spinning the tires. Launch is actually pretty smooth.

Launch control on the GT3 is set at 6800 rpm. The experience appeal is significantly higher over any M car as it barely spins the tires as it reaches redline and then you bang it into second. Porsche perfected their launch control and it's hard to beat.

We have come a long way with launch control. I remember in the late 90's - early 2000s, my buddy just installed an MSD ignition 2 step and it was the first time i've seen it installed on a street car. Was quite intriguing.

You mentioned launch is at 3.5k rpm. What’s the highest you can set it to? I know by using the cruse control. You can adjust the launch rpm.

I haven’t launch the car either. What have you guys found to be the best rpm for a launch with stock road tires?

I just left it on the default setting as it wasn't that bad of a launch. It was easy to launch at that rpm with little effort on the car. If you were to stab the gas pedal from a dig with no launch control, the whole backend will start to dance and doing burnouts. I don't see any advantage of upping the rpm's if you're not on drag radials.

I believe the range is 3k-4500 on F8x. On my old F82 I found around 3-3.5 gave me the best launch in terms of traction. Like I said I've yet to use it on my CS so that I can't speak to. I recently drove a used G87 at the dealer and launched it at 3500 and the car literally just went sideways lol but it was also a bit damp out and 50s temp. I then put traction into 2 (out of the 10 settings mode) and it gave me a significantly better launch from a dig
