Euro Delivery - Drive Like a Grandma?

Just curious, was planning on ED for the M2. But the thought of flogging a brand new car on the autobahn makes me shudder.

Do people just stay in the right lane or take it easy for the first 500 miles? I guess you could cover 500 miles within a day or two of driving highways but its ideal to vary speed on break in from what I recall.

Appreciate any input!

They told me not to exceed 160kph (100mph) and not to rev the engine over 4500 for the break in period.
I tried to vary my speeds and drove in the mountains whenever possible. Going up and down hills through the gears is good for break-in. You can safely drive on the autobahn at 70 mph, plenty of people drive that slow.

How did you manage ED with the M2?

I'm doing ED as well and had the same questions! I figure I'll take the long way to the Nurburgring... Hoping I can schedule my first service check in close proximity to the Nurburgring and then explore the track!

Still on the wait list at this point, but ED is the plan. Isn't ED on the M2 just like any other vehicle?

Yes, some dealers just aren't honoring it or charging US MSRP.

When a model is on allocation as I'm sure the M2 currently is, the dealership doesn't like to do ED because they make less money. If they agree to do ED, they probably won't give you the best deal. I bought my M235 just after in went off of allocation and got it 13% off of MSRP. It was pretty common to get 10-13% off if you have a good dealer. I think they dropped the discount by 2% so 11% off would be good.

I was actually prepared to pay the specified msrp for ED on the M2. So the dealer probably wouldn't be opposed to that unless there are other considerations.

That would mean that they are making an extra 5% on the deal. I believe that is what the official BMW ED discount would be.

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...stSavings.aspx

The discount in the article reads 7%, I'm pretty sure the ED discount was lowered to 5% on 1/1/2016. In any case you are due your 5%, you could get even more if the M2 were not on allocation as I said, I got 13% off my M235 plus all of the other benefits mentioned in the article but my car had finished being on allocation. I would check out some other dealers.

I am planning ED next year. The problem isn't the break-in period. The problem is road hazards like rock chips before XPEL. :-/
