Audi has announced the 2018 RS3 will be coming to the US with the 5 cylinder out of the TT-RS, 400 hp, 353 ft/lbs, DCT only, and starting at $54900. I feel like this will directly compete with the M2 as the "entry" into their RS line. With those performance figures I hope the M2 CS doesn't come in at a ridiculous price in comparison. Lots of discussion here
http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1356500 http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1364877 M2 CS will likely be at or slightly more expensive than a base M3. Just logical. It will be more expensive than the RS3. If you're comparing motor figures I can see why you would think that because as it stands right now at least in Canada, the RS3 is just slightly cheaper than an M2. But who cares? 400hp? It's FWD AWD for crying out loud. The motor is amazing but that haldex platform sucks bigtime. No manual option. So if either RWD or 6MT matter to you then we have a full stop. Price wise though there is ZERO chance of the M2 CS being less or equally as expensive as an RS3.

It just seems to have a different engine and not much else so far. The M240i did not go up in price too much when it got the B58 engine instead of the N55. Let's wait and see but based on what we've seen so far, it does not warrant a huge price hike since it will most probably not even be limited production. |
