Although the M2 CS gets a slightly different exhaust, I don't think it is coming from the factory with the M Performance Exhaust

I have a 2017 M2 Perf Ed with the Perf Exhaust and it rattled like crazy until my dealer fixed it and been perfect ever since. It sounds great!

Most of the depreciation has happened and one can drive up the miles feeling good about it.
And in your example, you also get the awesome F6 howl.

I was actually looking at Evoras today...which sort of straddle the M2CS price point (used are ~70K and new are 95K+).

Problem for me is that the closest dealer is in Austin (I am in Dallas)...but man that baby is HOT, and different.

PSE can be added. Not manual though. Yes, 5yrs old, but M2 tech isn't exactly earth shattering.

I try but I'm assuming that's sarcasm..

Anyways, I honestly wasn't even trying to imply anything about anyone in particular, just saying, me personally, if I had the means, my engine would be in the truck.

One sweet day..

What kind of P car you have BTW? I can't see your garage profile from the APP..

No sarcasm . . . I like your style. Refreshing.

I am Porsche Guy, currently driving a 718 CGTS. Love it!

M2C the first BMW that ever peaked my interest. Very different than the GTS, despite all the 'comparisons.'

Seriously, I hear you on this; if I purchase a CS at 85k plus 9% taxes, even with a $10,000 down payment, it works out to $1,500 for 60 months.. $20 less than my mortgage.

Or bad company!

I've come across the financial advice, "You shouldn't spend more than ____ % of your gross income on ____."

Cars can be an expensive hobby, but they are probably cheaper than younger women or drugs.

I've financed 6 cars so far, 4 Mini/BMWs and all paid off for successfully.

I treat credit as a financial tool and not a declaration of my worth or potential.

I'll admit, I don't have all of 85k, liquid, to drop on a car right now but doesn't mean it can't get it done.

But if I my grandma heard I spent that much on a depreciating asset, she would spin in her grave for making such a poor financial decision.

Seriously, I don't care how well-off one feel that they are, a $1,500 a month car payment, before insurance and expendables is ludicrous, when you lease a Rolls Royce for $2,000.

Now, if you can swing it all call cash, good for you! But you shouldn't make judgment on others without fully knowing their perspective on purchasing power.

I have no other expenses than my rent, which I split with someone. Put myself through school and paid cash for it all, so the M2 was my 'graduation' gift to myself. I for damn sure didn't (and don't) have $60,000 in cash to blow on a car, but I got a deal, and my financed amount is around 20% of my net monthly income, so I figured it was worth it. I don't see a problem with financing it.

I understand the depreciating asset conundrum. If we were all wise and lacked emotion we would invest all of our income to build wealth. Build wealth for what??? So my kids can live a lavish debt free lifestyle after my death? So I can start spending my money in the last few years of good health? What if your health declines early, go through divorce, etc. You have to live a little along the way. I've been through a life hardship that has given me much needed perspective in finding balance. My advice is to ensure you are saving adequately, meeting necessities, and then feel free to spend the rest on whatever you find fun. Some poeples fun is making more money, others golf, hunting, cars, etc. Hobbies are expensive.

An example of my mindset. I spend waaayyyy less on housing than I can "afford". By doing this I'm saving a lot on interest payments. I choose to drive a car that brings enjoyment. Mortgage interest is pissing away money, and so is buying a car beyond basic transportation. Minimize loss in one pool so I can lose it in another, but continue to increase savings. Or try to stay expense neutral so any increase in earnings goes into savings. Example my car payment is going to increase by $500/mo, but I'm going to pay off my student loans and decrease my gas/insurance/tax expenses offsetting the $500/mo. My car payment is now $1500/mo, but I'm still spending the same amount each month that I'm already comfortable with.

Financing has been well worth it for a number of years with the market returns that we've had. 20%+ plus returns. Not worth paying off a 70k car at <4% interest rate.

By no means am I saying this is the right way. It's just my way and I'm happy with the balance.

That's why I spend what I spend. I grew up with my parents making great money, but they live in a modest home, my Dad still drives the same Nissan Hardbody he bought 10 years ago for $1000, and my mom drives a newer Corolla. They never splurge, and have been working since they were both 15. Now my Dad is in his 60s and isn't able to do fun stuff due to back problems, but he has money in the bank, but for what...? I've lost a lot of friends and I'm only 23, so I live by the "can't take it with you when you're gone" motto. As long as I'm saving putting 30-40% away for my retirement, I will spend the rest.

Yeah, I think they have fixed mine a few times now...the mid-pipe clamp design is just not great and it will loosen and cause issues again - I just fixed it again two nights ago

I don't drive mine much to this point, only 4,500 miles on it so may still loosen but sounds great!

That's one approach...or just getting fatigued by waiting and looking at other options.
