The 295/30-18 will be a bit too short for the rear of the M2. We would recommend the 295/35-18. This should fit without issue, but a fender roll might be required with an R compound like the Hoosier. - Max

For the rear, the only 285, 295, or 305 35-series track tires I can find are A052's or R888's--not the best tires. Overall, I'm trying to get the most rubber as possible under the car with a typical track setup for the guys here (lowered 3/4", -2.7 front, -2.0 rear). I was thinking I could go with a 265/35(F) & 285/30(R) setup for RE-71R, but it sounds the rear would be too short. And, 275/35(F) & 295/30(R) R7 setup, but the front sounds too wide and the rear too short. What is Apex's wheel and tire fitment recommendation to get the most rubber possible (in a good track tire) on the M2? Thanks. |

This is the preferred track fitment as it allows for rotation of tires, extending their life and more balanced handling at the limit. The 18x10.5 ET40 rear can work with the 295/30-18 but it is not ideal. You are losing -1.335 inches in overall diameter in the rear over the stock 19x10 ET40 OEM M2 wheel with the 265/35-19. This is a -5.3% change, which is not ideal. Tire selections are more ideal in this 295/30-18 but keep in mind that the lower overall diameter can cause issues with your speedometer accuracy and your traction control effectiveness. - Max

I run with DSC off, so TC shouldn’t be an issue. Do you guys have any direct feedback on the impact to handling or the torque vectoring differential with the 265/35F 285/30R or 275/35F 295/30R setup, vs 275/35 square? There’s a decent bit more rubber with the 285 or 295/30 rear, but is it at the expense of handling or balance? Anyone out there running this setup? Thanks. |

EDIT: I did some measuring this weekend and I think even if I find the wheel width and ET to tuck a 315/30/18 in as far as possible, it’ll stick out too far passed the fender. Last edited by ZM2; 02-11-2018 at 08:35 PM.. |

Apex,
So there will be no 19" wheels with these offsets built for the M2, even considering how many of these BMWNA has imported so far (and the now follow-on M2 Competition model taking the reign)? Are you still planning on the 18" sizes discussed herein? I'm hunting wheels now for the M2 Competition -- never too early to start looking for track fitments. With the potentially much larger brakes available on the M2 Competition, I'm concerned about 18" wheels fitting at all. Regards, Chuck
