I'm exactly in your boat.

LOVE the M2...But I'll let year 1 production roll, finish my M235 lease and then re-evaulate.

Will be great reading all the reviews in the interim. I will be torn between M2 and M3 with its 4 doors.

Just be careful with the options and you can make it work.
That's a pretty good deal even though the money factor is marked up a bit but the sale price is very good. The current residuals for 10k miles are 58% now which would bring your payment of $650 + tax to $774 + tax.

I don't know how you got that residual so high but that makes up big time for the slight markup in the money factor. Great deal!

Wait a minute I didnt minus your MSD. So that doesnt make sense if your money factor is 0.00159 - 7 MSD that would bring your interest rate to 2.65% which would put your payment at $634.84 +tax My bad...

WAY better than the leaks. The front fascia is much better proportioned (looks as if the renders were stretched vertically). I'm sure it will look better in person though. Excited to read some reviews!

Now that we've seen it, and know the price (more or less) I'm really torn:

1.) BMW M2 (with ED)
2.) Mustang GT350
3.) BMW 328d (with ED)

I have a 2014 335i M-Sport now and I don't know what to do!

The M2 GC with 4 doors would be my next car. If no GC in a few years, I'd acquiesce with the coupe version.

Hmm... One of those choices doesn't fit. The M2 and the GT350 are options that I am mulling over as well. If a new Camaro 1LE is released then that is an option as well.

Toss out the 328d unless you need the space.

If you lease then probably the M2. I doubt the GT350 will lease well.

If you track regularly then the GT350 will probably be quicker. Certainly if you get the track package.

If you have never done ED I would highly recommend it. It is the balls.

Did you watch the live event at 6:00 tonight?IMO the M2 looks fantastic in Long Beach Blue, really suits the design of the car.

I like it but don't love it. Looks good for the most part and spec's are fine. No CF and seats I don't like. Still not sure how I feel about the engine.

My only gripes are the over pronounced fangs and the angled rear "vents". Otherwise I'll be happy to have this in my stable next Spring.

I like it. It looks really nice in Long Beach Blue (much, much better than Yas Marina imho) and if the rumors about the $50-60k price range are true, it feels like really good value (15-20k under a decently specced M3/4). I don't get some of the complaints. Were some people seriously delusional enough to think that BMW could afford to include all the Carbon Fiber and Aluminium weight saving bits, a S55 engine and all the interior equipment that you get on a M3/4 for $20k less? That's hilarious.

Imo the only way to meet that price target and make the car materially lighter without sacrificing daily usability would have been to replace the N55 with a S version of the N20. You should be able to make ~350 hp and save around 100lbs in the front in engine, cooling and drivetrain components. This will almost certainly happen the next time.

But an M2 ED will go out for $51k - 5% ($2600), plus dealer markup for a great part of 2016 - $48.4k plus markup. Call it $50k.

So it's not a $11k difference at least initially.

It's not that important. If you want the M2 you will get that, and if you want an M3 you can make that work. I bet the lease monthly rates will be very similar. I'm paying around $650/month for my car, for reference.

I like the extra practicality of my M3, but if the M2 had ALL the M3 bits, I'd probably chose that instead.
The price point you are making between the two cars makes sense but your talking about two totally different cars. The M2 is a coupe and the M3 is a sedan, but the biggest difference is the size. The M2 size is right in between the E36 M3 and the E46 M3.The size of the M3 is basically the same size as the old E39 M5.That car is just to big for a bunch of us BMW drivers.

Well done BMW

From a 1M owner, i would say yes it Looks good i like it ! Definitely meaner from the front.

Not reeaaaaallly happy with the X6M rear touch, but also wont judge now as well. I feel the 1M looks meaner from behind compared to this.

And those flared fenders? I might need to see them in real life as well, but they are pronounced yes. I think best to compare it next to an M235i

8/10 !

The good news. The gas mileage on this thing is pretty good.
From the Euro Spec sheet provided:

DCT: City (Urban) 22.4 mpg - (Euro numbers 10.5 Liters/100km)
Hiway (Extra Urban) 37 mpg - (Euro numbers 6.4 Liters per 100km)

Manual: City 20mpg (Euro 11.66 L/100km)
Hiway 35 mpg. (6.7 L/100km

The bad news. The gas tank only holds 13.7 US gallons (52 liters).

Again, these are numbers from the Euro spec cars.

It's pretty nice but I would rather save up for an M3/4 with a much nicer interior and refined exterior.

Correct. ED has a 0.0003 rate adder to make up for BMW paying your second lease payment while the car is in transit.

M3 has stupid high residuals (or had them in March/April). Residuals on M2 will most likely not be as good, at least in the first 6 months.

Either way, M3 or M2 should make owners very happy. I absolutely adore my M3, and it kicks major ass at the track.

1. Is the EPS system from the M4
2. Why oh why can they not have a separate button or control for rev match. It says it's disabled when DSC is off. I hope it stays on in MDM mode too. This shows BMW clearly does not listen to any feedback on these forums as that's a major gripe with the M4 owners
3. Why is the manual heavier than the DCT?
4. I've expressed my dislike for lack of seats. Some alcantara in the centre parts would have sufficed and looked good while functional(grip)
5. M mirrors totally would have finished it off. Bad call BMW (sorry had to throw it in there)

I'm still interested though...
don't you want it off when dsc is off? that's the only way to drive. what the hell happened to m3 drivers?
Sorry Stig

Size matters not.

Weight does. There is practically an 80-90lbs difference between my car and an M2 which is not very significant, at least compared to the tire size difference.

It might drive a bit different due to the smaller wheelbase, but to me the M2 is heavy for a car of such small footprint. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, I hope new owners will be happy with it. Just don't see any advantage in it the way it's specced out right now.

For reference, I've started with an E36 M3 too.

Overall very nice and what everyone was expecting. I hope those are not fake side vents...on the other hand, I like the matte carbon fiber trim.

Should be a blast. I'm still considering an F80 (possibly with the competition pack, will have to see what that offers), a used 997.2 GTS and...can't believe this...the GT350. All will need to become clear by this spring!

I wouldn't be making a fuss about the 7:58 lap time around the Ring if I were BMW. There's a certain spanish family wagon that can match that time

Very nice car though and can't wait to see one live. Might be the one to get when it comes time to let my 135 go
