Updated with rendering from Jon Sibal of the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage in classic livery, which perhaps would have been better received than the neon yellow-green which it was introduced in.

Would you have liked this better?

Yes, absolutely! This is well executed as it should have originally been from the BMW Factory Design Team, and not a half-assed finished version as it apparently was.

I still say loose all the plastic chrome trim in some way. Perhaps anodized matte aluminum, blacked-out, or same as the body color.

From that angle it looks ok. It is the front that looks very messy and overdone to me. A front-on shot with that livery would be interesting to see.

Much much better but front aero foils need removal.

Does look better in this livery! The yellow makes the confusing design look cheap in my opinion.

Always better in the classic motorsport guise, but I liked it from the get-go.

... No it looks better with the classic livery but there are still errors with corrections to be made

Some of the elements are too soft for the technical design... trying to be cryptic again

Is it too late to bring back Bangle?

i like it, except the double spoiler thing, actually both spoilers look like shit, perhaps a different spoiler style would make this look better, and ONLY 1.

Doesn't matter what color it is. From a straight on view, the front end is absolutely hideous!

Can't really see how this pays homage to the 3.0 CSL in terms of design..

Eh, maybe a bit. But the problem with the concept isn't the livery -- it's the design. The only good part of the car's design are the oversized kidney grills and the front end in general. The rest of the car boggles the brain. On the one hand, you have the over-designed front and rear fenders, where the former inexplicably folds onto the hood and in the latter's attempt to seem flowing into the rear spoiler, ends up being a mess. On the the other hand, if you just look at the profile of the car as a silhouette, it's a bit bland. That is, if you strip away the ugly bits, there's nothing redeeming underneath. No iconic shape, no functional characteristics, nothing.

Contrast this car against Calty's FT-1 concept, and you can really see just how odd the decision to release this was, especially when you consider that both are intended to share the same platform.

I wonder if this portends a design shakeup at BMW. Function before form, fellas.

It's still an ugly design. This car looks like some designer tried to use the argument that form follows function, but didn't actually have to justify any of the function.

Yes, we will add two spoilers. Because 2 > 1, and "future".
