I was curious on the wholesale price on my M2. Made an inquiry and was offered 50500 for my 18 DCT LBB with all options.

A new 2018 for 45K doesn't sound right, especially since I had about 12 local dealers in the LA area trying to work deals for me. Ended up about 200 miles away from me to get mine with no test drive miles on it. There were quite a few with 60 - 140 miles on them that I didn't want.
Yeah, almost certainly COULD have pushed for as much as 6k off MSRP on my LCI last month....

Herb Chambers Boston BMW has a new '18 in inventory advertised on their website at $6,600 off sticker right now.....that's before even starting to negotiate.

It sounds like you took your trade value and added the m performance options to it as value, further reducing the out of pocket expense for the M2. It doesnt sound like the SALE PRICE of the M2 was $45K, its the net sale price after deducting the extra value from the M240i.

Can you share your sales doc(s)? Feel free to redact any sensitive info.
Correct, it wasn't a straight trade situation.
  • The M240, without the performance bits was valued at $37,500
  • The MSRP on the M2 was $62k
  • The dealer discounted the price on the M2 from the $62k to $57,500 (so I was still looking at a delta of around $20k)
  • When we tallied up all of the performance parts, I had paid $7,500. Their first option was for me to get all of the performance parts back and resell on my own. I countered with letting them keep the parts and applying the original sale price on either the trade or the price of the M2.
  • So, all said, I was looking at a delta of around $12,500
  • But, since I had paid for a maintenance program and PPF, I negotiated those prices to be subtracted from the remaining amount, which was $1500 for the PPF and an additional $2500, which dropped the amount remaining to around $8,500
  • Adding on a loyalty bonus which was around $1000, so therefore I'm down to $7500
  • Because the dealer was starting a sales event on the 21st, which involved an extra $1000 off, I was able to grab that discount too, so the remaining price was $6500
  • And because they also had a promotion on an additional $1000 off if you apply and receive the BMW Branded Credit Card, I got that as well, which dropped the overall total to $5500

The fun part is the negotiating, then again, I must be the 5% of people who enjoys haggling at price.
I think they got ripped off

I live in San Diego county so a M2 is a DD year round. I just bought a used 2017 M2 MG a week ago from my local Porsche dealer for $49K with 11K miles. I have the sticker and the MSRP was $66K! Car was sold new from my local BMW dealer in APR '17 when they were still getting a premium over MSRP. It has M Performance package (MPE w/CF tips, CF winglets front and side, black grills and rear CF spoiler for $5K) as well as Executive PKG, DCT and tinted windows. It's exactly how I would have ordered it but there was no way I was paying >$70K all in. I'm thrilled as you might expect. Maybe its not the best deal out there but it made sense to me as I was considering a 2016 M235i with 6K miles with all the M Performance packages including the LSD, Dinan S1 and racing steering wheel ($2K) from the BMW dealer for $37K. A great deal but as nice as it was its still not or ever will be a M2. The sales manager at the BMW dealer said it best, no one needs these cars, they are a want. I new right then I wanted a M2. Happy negotiating on your used M2! and I hope you get the one you want!

btw... my 3 yr old son sits in his car seat and even at 35 mph when he hears the exhaust he shouts... faster dad!
