Nope - I really dislike the s55 engine noise which is why I sold my m4 to begin with
If my option was s55 in the m2 and 10k more I would have stepped up to a cayman GT4 or 911 S If you’re looking to drag race f87 are wrong platform to begin with, they will always be slow s55 or n55 |

Nope. M2C is a great car but it priced itself out of my budget. I was planning to buy a new M2 in 2019 or 2020 but it's now discontinued so it pushed me to get one of the last OG M2s. So in the end I'm actually glad BMW did it so I got my dream car sooner.
I also prefer the older styling, not digging the unigrille. |

Were you upset with Apple when the iPhone 4 was replaced? Were you pissed when Microsoft replaced Windows '98? Were you mad when that 48" rear-projection TV become obsolete ? My friend's parents paid about $700 in 1979 for a microwave oven. It was huge, had one power setting, a dial control, and could have made us sterile if we stood too close to it while it was running. Put in a lasagna, and 15 minutes later, the outside of the lasagna still had ice crystals, while the middle was as hot as the core of the sun. My first digital camera (2001) cost me $300, and came with a 128 MB memory card. The one I just bought over the weekend cost $163, and came with a 16 GB (!!) memory card, and is better in every other metric also. My brother's 2000 Corvette convertible has 300hp. Which shames the wretched 1984 'Vette and its 205 HP, but is anemic compared to the current gen Corvette. He still loves his car. (I offered to buy him a new one, but he declined. His car has sentimental value...) BMW isn't the culprit in any of this. As to the financial aspect, here's my advice (and worth more than it cost): NEVER owe more on anything than you could sell it for tomorrow, in an emergency. Whether it's a car, boat, furniture (heaven forbid), or your house. Easier said than done, but it can be done. Don't let yourself become upside-down in a loan. Ever. The stress/anxiety/dark thoughts that accompany that situation can easily lead to you feeling salty about everything. Too much salt in your diet will raise your blood pressure. And more problems follow...

Nope. If the M2C was available when I was in the market I would have got an M3/M4 instead as in Canada the M2C is too close to M3/M4 pricing to justify. I got an M car for considerably less than an M2C or M3/M4 so basically the opposite of salty and grateful I could get one of the last OG M2's.

I never understood this 'not enough power' thing. And no this car doesn't need 450-480 at the wheels to be a good car, who the hell could use that kind of power on the street anyway?
I've been a part of online car forums for 20 years and there is always a group of people on every forum that wishes they had more power. Even on the 997 and 991 forums on rennlist. My question is, if you want that kind of power, why didn't you buy a different car? Get a 911 turbo, a MkIV Supra, a Z06, ZR1, GTR, etc. If you cant afford those cars, get a mustang GT or Camaro or whatever. I knew going in that if I wanted more than 400 whp, the M2 isn't the car. I bought the car because its the best of what I wanted for the money I was willing to spend. Its a great car with ample power, great handling, great looks, great sound, and its reasonably practical and reasonably affordable. And for those who purchased a 16-18 before the S55 was announced for 19, I'm sorry, but car manufacturers have been doing this for decades and its really gotten bad these past few years. It seems every year they add something to a car to make you want the one just one year newer than the one you have, its either a new engine, new idrive, apple car play, new headlights, etc. No matter what you buy, they will make something you want more in a year or two. Go for a spirited drive (or better yet, hit the track) and forget about the M2c... enjoy what you have. Last edited by Blurbo311; 09-07-2018 at 11:41 AM.. |

I drive a car that can do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds if I hit my shifts correctly with less than 400hp. I can commute with this car or tear up some back roads if I want. The front grille looks like front grilles not some smushed together blob. The motor sounds absolutely stunning. IMO not many cars sound better these days.
About the only thing I wish I had in this car was adjustable suspension. But I can get something softer with the Dinan kit if I wanted. |

Doesn't matter what car you have it's going to be outdated/slower in a year or two no matter how much you pay. There's one thing that wont be outdated and that's sound. I'll take N55 over the sound of a lawn mower through a gravel road any day.
Also OG M2 is about as fast as anything you'll encounter on the road or be able to use on a normal street. IMO any performance improvements over tiny things here and there (I got DINAN S1 Full package) you're not going to really use any of it outside of a straight line even if you try to. You want to take sweepers faster than 110-120 mph(and that's stock too)? What's the point? If you're bored with it or feel like it's too slow it's because you don't know how to drive it IMO. Not all mate.
There is no reason to be salty with BMW, as there will always be a better and updated model regardless. Thats what make the world go round. I purchased my LCI in January this year, knowing full well that the M2C was around the corner. Enjoy what you have, or you will just be miserable for the entire finance period, and thats no fun with M2 in the garage |

I'm not particularly upset. I wouldn't buy the S55 car due to the sound. The standard M2 is an amazing drivers car, sounds amazing and it's not slow. I suspect you're caught up in the quest for ever increasing numbers...I've certainly been there but this car is amazing when you make the effort to drive it on a track or some thrilling roads.
If you want speed for price you could get a Mk7 Golf R, tune it and you'll have a 3.7 sec 0-100 car that handles pretty well and has a half-decent interior.

Whatever car you choose to buy at any time you can bet your house on the fact that there is a bigger, better, faster, more complete revision already in the pipeline.... this is what drives the business forward. It creates desire and keeps all manufacturers on their toes....
I'm picking my new (obsolete) Lci up today knowing that the guy next to me is probably picking his M2C up on the same day.... I'm calm with my £10k saving as I'm pretty sure in 2 years his car won't be £10k more than mine. Enjoy your car...... then enjoy the next...... and the next....... |

All the people wishing they had the m2c seats.....how much seat time do you have win those seats via m3/m4. I spent 10 days driving all through Germany and surrounding areas in an m4 and found the seats to be not comfortable at all for anything but short stints.
The m4 seats are much better for keeping you still during aggressive driving though. |

I have an E46 M3 with 30k miles on it. It's like brand new and is an incredible car. I will say that the M2 is much more fun to drive because the power is more accessible. You are correct that the E46 has more top end pull but that is the problem....In the E46 you HAVE to be at the top end to get into the pull. It's an amazing car as I said but you're quickly in arrest me territory when you access the power available. |

A couple things I've learned as a car enthusiast.
1) Don't buy a car as an investment - a newer, better model is always just a few years away. 2) If possible, pay off your car quickly - won't make the inevitable depreciation due to point #1 quite as painful. 3) Buy a car because you like it, not because someone wrote an article saying how great it is - you know what they say about opinions. With that in mind, I bought my M2 because it was the best semi-luxury sub $60k sports coupe on the market (I know, not a lot of cars in this segment). After all the hoopla on the new model dies down, you might even realize some aspects of your car are better than the new one. If not, the great thing about cars is you can ignore advise 1-3 above and sell it! |

I've had some of my best driving in my OG M2 - can't put a price on time and enjoyment.
Swap your seats, upgrade the turbo, and get over it. |
