Nope. Don't think there's much of an aerodynamic advantage also.

Finally saw an M2C LBB front end this weekend with my own eyes.

Consensus seemed to be that it looked better in person than we've all seen in photos, but not to your eyes I take it...

I admit I never saw THIS move coming - why would anyone want to put the worst aesthetic change from the M2C onto an 'old' M2? I get that some ppl like the side mirrors, the seats, maybe the front bumper and/or the wheels, but that fugly conjoined grille? What's next - will they have a droopy exhaust can retrofit?

Perhaps people rationalizing? Same could be said for OG owners I suppose.

In any case, they say..."beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

...and I'll beholdin on to my OG front end.

This next bit is not me "hating" on the M2C, just my opinion after seeing the car in the flesh for the first time...there are things I did like about it over the OG M2 (mirrors and seats).

Aside from the mustache, which everyone has talked about to death, the three "Accents" (not sure what else to call them) on the lower lip just look cheap and forced - very Type R, very Honda. Also the lower grill doesn't extend all the way on each side to fill the "mouth" any longer...I get that it's because there are what looks to be some additional air intakes there, but personally I think it looks better completely filling the area as it does on many other cars, including the OG. There are also some plastic pieces in the lower corners that just seem cheap and needless. I think this bumper will benefit GREATLY from an aftermarket splitter that will extend the lower lip outward.

Quick photo I took to illustrate:

Shipping blocks not removed? Personally I feel the M2C cosmetic changes are pretty subtle and don't bother me at all. I don't think it makes the OG M2 look dated or anything but I don't think it looks bad.

I like the lower part of the M2C bumper. But I can't get over the grille. It might grow on me as I suspect they will be introducing it to other models.

They'll give it the upside-down grilles from the X2.

Yeah, that's a bit lame but at least not ugly. I see an aftermarket potential for the grilles. A simple body colour sticker might work but complete redesign would look better.

Don't they make it less aerodynamic so it embarrasses the M4 a little less?
