Keep losing throttle blip

I've noticed several times that the throttle blip function disappears from time to time when driving in Sport. While this might delight many drivers, it doesn't do it for me coz I really like my throttle blip ! Heel and toe while wearing high heel anklestrap sandals is not an option. The only way to get it back is to toggle the switch from Sport to Comfort, or Sport+, and then back again to Sport.

I'm wondering if this is a malfunction. Has anyone else experienced this ? It's not just happening at engine speeds when the down-change is perfectly matched, it's when the engine actually needs to be blipped. I'm going for my first year service in about 6 weeks so will mention it to the dealer but I don't want to appear to be stupid (even if I AM !). And the first person who suggests I change my footwear as a remedy will get a thick ear

in Sport and Sport+, rev match does not seem to behave in an entirely consistent manner. I have noticed this as well.

My guess would be that iDrive is trying to apply some intelligence to the application of rev match beyond just RPM, gear, and speed.....e.g. it's considering engine temp, braking, and how aggressively you are driving.

I also noticed that a couple of times. Especially when i was driving in low speed with low rpm. But never happened when i was pushing it and within the high side rpm range.

Only happens to me if I let the RPMs drop below 1k. Otherwise, it's been entirely predictable.

As long as I'm engaging a gear soon after pushing the clutch in, mine blips perfectly every time. If I've waited a few moments it may not blip so I simply clutch-in again and it will blip as expected.

OK it definitely sounds as if mine has developed a fault then. Thanks for your input !

happened to me on one downshift this morning 4 to 3...but then the car blipped on 3 to 2. Happens every now and then. I even posted about it back when I first got the car and got the usual canned responses of "You just don't know how to drive" and "It's not the car, it's you"...you know really helpful input My advice would be to do exactly as you are doing and that is to mention it to your service manager when you take the car in. Hopefully they can replicate the issue and put in a fix for you if needed.
