Alarm after short move

Sooooo

If I move the M2 from one one parking spot to another. Basically the car runs for a minute or two. Then park it and lock it.

About a minute later the alarm goes off. Key fob out of pocket, not accidentally hitting any buttons.

Thoughts?

May be the motion sensor because someone tried to get in.

so, my new theory. kind of embarrassing or what ever

I move the M2 out of the way to drive the M3. The M3 is about 20 feet or so away form the M2, no one is trying to get into it. I think the idling M3 is kicking off the motion sensor and thus the alarm.

Part of why I think this, I have heard other car alarms go off near the idling M3. I also just drove out the work garage and past an M235i. Well, the alarm went off.

Thinking mystery solved, I may try to replicate it.

Very funny story. Thanks for sharing it.

I guess I was right about the motion sensor just not the cause.

same car its catless as well with one of the cheaper muffler packages that came with it.

so, guess it's not the M2.

I'm trying to decide if my car is quieter with the garage door closed or open on mornings when I have to leave early. Sure there's that whole asphyxiation concern, but at least my neighbors won't hate me.

I'd rather my neighbors hate me then slowly poison myself.

quick update.

I can start the M3 right next to the M2 or in the same proximity as noted above and no alarm. It only appears to happen right after I shut the M2 down. Not sure if its more sensitive right after shut down or within 5-15 minutes, something like that.

weirdness...

You can make your cold start go away if you give the car a little throttle in neutral right after you start it. Just 100-200 rpm will do the trick. Hold it for 30-45 sec and you're good to go.
