I think it’ll be 12 months from now and that assumes we have a vaccine that has been widely distributed. Otherwise, we’ll need some sort of viable treatment to relax restrictions.

Curious to know how many anti vaxxers are going to jump on board once a vaccine becomes available. I’m checking names.

Too lazy to read everyone’s post. Forgive me, drove 18 hours straight from Miami to my new home in Indiana so I’m a little wired/tired. Plus, I’ll have to fly back down to grab my 335 soon.

IMHO this will go on for another year. Sports should be played w/o fans to give us some sort of distraction.

Schools to return from Kindergarten-Colleges Fall 2021.

Unemployment to be through the roof with constant extensions and more stimulus checks.

Depression for sure.

That’s all I got. Bed time.

More like .3-.5%. I've read estimates where they believe the infected rate is 5-10x the reported amount meaning the mortality rate is much lower.

When the media gets bored and moves on to something else. Maybe we find another dumb reason to impeach trump again, economy was doing great then.

Why?

Because much longer than that and the economic devastation will outweigh the loss of life. There is a line, and several indicators show that date to be about where the line resides.

At that point - far more people will die or have their lives destroyed, such as permanent homelessness, drug addiction, suicide, malnourishment, starvation, and such from the economic destruction than the virus itself.

I believe some indicators show a loss of life from the shutdown of the economy to exceed 1MM if we keep it shutdown longer than that.
These are my thoughts exactly. Most reasonable people want to protect public health, but there is a huge middle ground between completely pulling the plug, and taking no precautions at all.

Having the economy shut down for months and months will have a ripple effect that will hurt all levels of the economy, and if we aren’t careful, there will be much more suffering from that than from COVID 19.

Here in Dallas, the city council just extended the shelter in place until April 30th , with the mayor having the discretion to extend until May 20th, so we will see how this plays out.

The key is to shut down everything for x amount of day to stop the virus from spreading. It's better for economy then what many state are doing now. USA is like the last country not to lockdown. Russia issued a lockdown until end of April and they are in a much better shape then USA

By summer, people will be ignoring quarantines. Martial law will be met with riots if it lasts that long. I've been using the empty highways to stay sane.

It's spreading in Brazil and India just fine. The viruses are reproducing in 98 degree, humid respiratory tracts. They don't need to spend much time outside the body for the next body to pick it up. Other coronaviruses (like MERS) survived longer in coldweather and less well above 85 degrees, and did better in more humid temps on inanimate objects.

That's true when you use antibacterial soaps which can leave behind bacteria resistant to the particular antibiotic in the soap (they have an altered binding site or make a blocking agent). Alcohol kills in a mechanical process.

We don't really promote viral mutations like we do in bacteria with liberal antibiotic use. Viruses mutate pretty frequently, so controlling spread is the best way to limit mutations.
