Love it! Great cars. I would hold out for a few weeks though until the new one is announced, unless you can get a good price for the current one. From what I have seen in the market the prices they want is above what they would have paid for in the first place. Also, you seemed to like tracking your cars. Wouldn’t GT4 be the better option? Unless the E46 (I think) M3 you bought will now be the track toy?

There’s only one Merc worth contemplating and that’s the AMG GT which is wonderful. But then you are in Aston Martin territory.

The only other car I would consider at this price point is the Alfa Gulia Quadrafoglio. But that’s a bit too scary an ownership proposition.

M2C is an absolute bargain and the best thing BMW has done since the 80s. That’s why I bought one before they were on sale. Here’s my money.
I mean this is M2 comp thread afterall... so I'd assume a little bias towards M2C, which is fair enough. M2C is still in my consideration, but I have a few others in consideration as well.

At the moment...

Porsche Boxster 981 S or GTS.. the GTS is holding it's value well trying to get one with low kms which is listed around 130-140.. I've always loved that car.

I'm also a huge fan of the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio, hoping to pick one up with under 10,000km for a good price (115-120), but I want the sparco seat option and in Red (have to go with red in an alfa right?)

RS3 is sort of an outsider... i think it's not that great looking, but it's got a great engine, interior is nice, and most importantly it's cheap for what it is ($80k new), with a tune it's an unbeatable red light warrior.

Other than that not that many options... don't want original M2, C63s/RS5 would be nice but a little bit too expensive.

It all depends on the price of the M2C... it's looking promising at a good price (in sapphire black, black wheels, orange highlight interior, no sunroof and upgraded brakes) for the October delivery, but it depends on the 2nd market, how quickly i post/sell my car, so looking more like a 2019 delivery. Basically if it's at 120k, I rather pay 5k more for M3 competition despite car probably doesn't drive as well, but would have more space and much nicer interior.

I had the 981 Spyder, best car I’ve owned!

Problem is you should have bought mine, they are asking $30k more than I sold for, mine had 1200ks only lol.

Sound and dynamic were awesome, even the manual roof was fun. Make sure you get the Classic interior, beautiful.

You have been talking about getting something for a long time now. Just do it already! And I’ve asked this before. Show me a RS3 for $80k. Maybe without RS performance pack and exterior packs but not with them. At the very least you need RS Performance which is a $6k option pack.

Was thinking the same thing RS3 for $80k drive away seems cheap, likewise $100k drive away for an M2C (non pure) with brakes optioned and delivery in October also seems very cheap considering how new it is. Would love to know what dealer is doing that!

I posted the details previously on another thread, but here it is again. My mate got a MY18 RS3 Sedan in Nardo Grey, all RS3 comes with RS performance pack 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (2 different style of rims and 2 different colours, Extended black high gloss styling package.

Missing options RS design pack (Red stitching), Sunroof, Ceramic brakes and Matrix lights (front).

Car delivered last year.. If you look at the price it's only $76,500... but there was a trade in (which they did their magic and adjusted the vehicle price), without trade salesman would've done it for $81,500. But I prefer Hatch which is $3.5k cheaper, but I would've went with Metallic paint which is 2.5 or 3k. Last I spoke with the salesman 2-3 weeks ago, $80.5k still stands.

Hey Den,

So let me get this right $76k for the RS3 after trading in his M135i, or he could have paid $81k with no trade?
So in essence he gave away his M135i for $5k???
And this is a good deal?
I must be reading your post wrong.

I realised I never posted the full document and only the screenshot. Here is the Aus build guide for those that want it as despite official pricing being released BMW's website is still not updated

As mentioned before RRP for the M2C is $104k before dealer delivery, on-roads and any options. So you are looking at ~$115k for basic metallic paint option on the road.

Stock or no stock I would be very surprised if dealers do amazing deals this calendar year. As normally these sort of deals are funded by BMW incentives, ie the gst discounts running up to EOFY.

That is one confusing contract of sale.

I think it is worse than that though, the total settlement amount is 105k due to the additional 29k required to pay out the loan on the m135. So assuming the dealer can flog the m135 for the total 49k (i have no idea what they are worth, but generally a lease payout should be the low end value) then they are effectively selling the RS3 for 105k

Yea you're reading it wrong, well not "wrong" but think just small misunderstanding. the trade in car had finance owing, that's why it looks like that.

If you look closely there's a $49,000 payout amount, that's the finance payout to the trade in car.

Trade in car amount is $20,000.

Therefore there's a negative equity ($29000) from the previous car is put into this finance. Hence $76500+$29000 = $105500.

1) don't ask me why the payout for a M135i is $49000 lol answer is my mate is an idiot, he keeps putting more and more negative equity on top of his loan and keep picking highest possible residual/balloon possible.

2) how the car is $76,500 because the agreed trade amount was $25k (65000km and wasn't in good condition). Hence I said they did some magic to the paperwork.

I am still not convinced because that trade appear very low. But if you can get a RS3 with RS Performance for $80k then you should just get it. That’s a lot of car for that money.

Everyone are skeptics lol it's understandable when people are just saying car is xxx but there's a contract there lol

Anyways since that deal was nearly a year ago, a newer m135i trade in guide is between $25,400 - $28,400. So factor in the hideous mods he did to the car and the average condition of the car. He was more than happy with $25,000.

On a side note, if I do decide on the Rs3 I think there's even more wiggle room, as at the time of that sale. It was a brand new face lift and that much discount was available, a year on, more should be available

Work colleague bought the new RS3 when they where released as a pre-order with RS pack and blue for 100k flat on road so I reckon a RS3 sub 100k is doable.

He has had a E46 M3, then a 1M and then the RS3. Likes the car however lack luster from an engagement perspective. Now looking into a M2 as really missing the 1M.

On a side not anyone looking into the RS3 should investigate the "known" issues as he has had a few. So far they have replaced front calipers, front discs, sunroof and parts of the exhaust and sensors. Seems to be more in the service centre than on the road.

Unless the contract is for an outright NON trade in purchase it never happened.

So the RS3 actually cost $105k, not $76.5k...

not sure why this is so hard to understand for some...

It depends on which way you're looking at it. From which party's point of view.

For buyer, yes car cost 105k.

For BMW finance, they still get 49k (payout figure) for what was owing for the M135i.

For Audi, they're getting $76.5k for the car

For Audi finance, they charge customer interest on 105k to pay off the 49k owing to Bmw finance, and balance for whatever they get for selling the trade in to wholesale.

Obviously that changeover figure of 105k was a lot higher before negotiations. From memory it was 108k for car + 49k payout - $25k trade in = 132k changeover.

At the end of the day it depends of the person's circumstances:
1) you can buy the car (no previous car)
2) you can sell car privately (pay off what's owing to finance out of your own pocket)
3) you can trade the car in and put the negative equity (if there is one) onto the new car.

For this particular person, the best offer he got in the private market in 3-4 months was $30k, therefore he had to put $19k cash at that point in time to Bmw finance to payout the balance of the loan on the M135i. Car price was $81.5k plus $19k = $100.5k vs $105.5k

So $4k difference but he didn't have to put $19k upfront, he can put the negative equity onto the next loan.

If he wasn't so stupid having such a large residual or had a different car with less/no negative equity, he'd be financing a lot less than $105.5k

So how much was the audi rs3? It's not $105.5k.. it's not $76.5k either. It depends on how much you value the car you're selling/trading, it depends on if you have 19k lying around, there are so many factors.

Car itself can be had for $81.5k, but you have to pay a price for trading (aka laziness) so I would say he paid $86.5k plus interests on a much bigger amount.

**mind you at the time he was looking at M2... Bmw offered slightly higher trade at 28k,M2 was $104k, Bmw Australia support of $5k for finance... so $104k+$21k owing for car -$5k support... car would've been $120k changeover... is the M2 $120k? Obviously not. He chose rs3 at 15k cheaper
