See posts #77 and #78 of this thread. Didn't try yet the suggestion made in post #78.

Didn't try that yet, but I'm skeptical. Though the M2 memorizes the 'Lane Departure Warning' and 'Collision Warning' active/inactive.

Talking about the E82: at least the 1M didn't feature the auto 'start/stop' function. It featured neither an ECO MODE nor 'Efficient Dynamics' graphics on the instrument cluster. On the contrary its instrument cluster featured an analog oil temp meter. Yeah, BMW M got it right with the 1M. It's a classic for all the right reasons.

I'm sure it does, I have adaptive on mine as well. However high beam assist is bad at detecting trucks on the french motor way for some reaons. On the motor way in france the middle separation is usually high enough to hide incoming truck beams, so the car stay in high beam but the truck driver himself is high seated and gets blinded For some reasons incoming cars are properly avoided... So I disable high beam assist on the motorway.. on normal road it's fine.

Do you drive a right-hand drive M2 in France ? I don't know whether the Adaptive Head Lights and High Beam Assist software is different between modern LHD and RHD BMW cars.
"The projection of light from low-beam headlamps is asymmetrical. The kerbside lamp projects light forwards, while the other headlamp dips the beam down and away from oncoming traffic, so as not to dazzle drivers coming in the opposite direction. In Europe, headlamps approved for use on one side of the road must be adaptable to produce adequate illumination with controlled glare for temporarily driving on the other side of the road. This is done by affixing masking strips or prismatic lenses to a designated part of the lens or by moving all or part of the headlamp optic so all or part of the beam is shifted or the asymmetrical portion is occluded. Some cars have a built in adjustment to adapt the projection mechanically."
(source: here)
Anyways, technology can do a lot, but can never emulate the human eye.

You are probably right regarding the software, would be nice if it was clever enough to adapt to the country.
Other than that the manual state that LED and Xenons are symetrical and don't need the sticker thing ^^. This remain needed for halogen as far as I know.

That of course is assuming that the Adaptive LEDs we receive on the M2 will be the same tech as on the M3/M4, rather than possibly just swiveling projectors with a single LED source behind them (I believe this is what Subaru still does with their LED headlights, although I haven't taken one apart to know for sure.)

Guess this will be the M Performance Interior pack. More $$$$ to fleece the buyer

Agree for me the black looks better and matches the rest of the centre console, however there is also a fair amount of chrome detailing so its not too out of place.

I would imagine the 1M had about the same cluster as my 2012 135 had. No graphic display under the speedo. Just the amber matrix display between the speed and RPM's with the analog fuel and temp gauges on either side. I think that was also before they started putting eco mode and efficient dynamics into the cars (or at least it wasn't in my car).

So less about them trying to get it right and more about the 1M having the "typical features" of the time.

On the 125, switching to Sport mode turned off Auto Start Stop. Does that not happen with the M2?

You guys on about auto start / stop:

1) in the US it remembers your choice by default.
2) abroad, it can be changed easily by coding

Code:
Auto Start/Stop Default OFF:
	3023
TCM_MSA_DEFAULT_OFF set to: aktiv
Auto Start/Stop Remember Last Setting:
	3023
TCM_MSA_MEMORY set to: aktiv

Just checked. Even on my pre LCI May 2017 build, this option is missing

The LCI M2 doesn't have any more digital displays than the pre LCI. The difference is simply that the dials are all located behind a tinted cover glass. You can still see them in the video before the engine is started, but once it is, the backlit numbers and needles show through clearly day and night because they're backlit not front lit.

I too thought they were digital, but they're not. A few posts back you can see a diagram where the OP highlighted what's digital and what's not... and it's the same as pre LCI.

I actually liked the look of the pre-LCI dials, because I sort of like the grey backgrounds, but I can see from the photos that they really are difficult to see at night, so I'm happy I have an LCI on order.
