I'm not a fan of blocking off that much airflow to the FMIC. I'm personally running the U.S. Millworks tow-hook bracket, and I don't mind the look (others may disagree).

I agree. I was thinking of getting NYS's BMW CCA plate when my LBB M2 arrives.

Being military, I'll have the car in a state far from NYS (Colorado). I was thinking of taking my chances. I'm not sure if another state would enforce the NYS plate regulations. The car will likely never be in NYS.

As far as I know, the state enforces their rules, meaning if you are from a state where a front plate is required, but are in a state where a front license plate is not required, you won't be ticketed. I know of people getting ticketed in NY with PA or FL registrations because they did not have a front plate

That just seems absurd. Many states that only require a rear plate wont even give you a second plate to put on the front if you even wanted it. But I'm sure those cops and towns are betting on you not being able to show up for your court date and just having to pay their extra tax to line their coffers on out of staters. Complete BS.

Lol I was not present, but the story was that my friend was pulled over and issued a ticket for not having a front license plate with a PA car, and the cop told him "idc where you are from, when you cross the state line you better have a front plate on" . Now as far as what the law says on the matter I have no idea :

Have one in the front of my 1M and will have one in the front of my M2. The tow hook ones look silly IMHO. If you have to have a front plate, put it on -and put it on correctly.

And that day you are pulled over - even if you have only had ONE, because you are missing a front plate, will be a scary day.

Can you post s picture of your car with the millwork tow hook bracket? Which one did you order, I don't see an option for the M2 on their site. I have a 2017 on order. Thx!

Could not disagree more. Tow hook plates look like an afterthought - if your state requires plates, put them on and do it right.

Tow hook plates remind me of my Grandma's chairs - covered in plastic to make sure things look good in the future at the expense of the present.

The US millworks bracket is excellent quality- the swivel mount allows you to angle it nicely in line with the curve of the bumper to the left of the tow hook. To me makes it more unique than center mount...if required as in Va. Mine is M SQRD.

I love it, I'd never mount it in the middle.

I don't understand the connection between grandma's chairs covered in plastic and a tow hook plate.

I don't have mine on but it leaves me constantly dodging police. Port authority/MTA "toll workers" are "cops" and can ticket you. I'm constantly getting stopped at the tunnel or bridge. I've talked my way out of it a few times but I'm sure next time I won't be able to. Now I just avoid the tunnels when I can. Otherwise I pray I get the lane without someone watching the cars. I've also received parking tickets for it as well. So when I can, I don't park on the street. I guess this seems like a lot of work but I don't care.
Gosh, I don't like front tags either, but that a lot of trouble and stress. I couldn't do it. I used the Skene design mounting system. its in the middle and in between the two air ducts. I still don't like it but I rather not be stressed about the tag. Good luck with it though.

I used to see people placing their front plates on their dashboard....I guess that's not allowed anymore or was never allowed.

So backup... why not put the plate where it belongs?

Because I like the cleaner look in the middle of the bumper. I could also just quick release it if Im in a state with no front license plates, or If I just want to snap some nice pics of the car.

I guess it comes down to how we look at front plates on a car. I like the symmetrical look of when the plate is front and center. So to me, the plate in the tow hook looks out of place and not as good. So when someone does this just to not have two holes (which will normally be covered by the plate until the day they sell), it reminds me of my grandma's chairs

Alas, if you like the off center look, that's a different story!

Front plates are for the po-po to have an easy target to light you up on their laser speed gun. Make it hard for them!!
