M2 Downpipe - Catted?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello,

I’m purchasing a downpipe for 2017 M2. I was looking at the Fabspeed and Akrapovic. Not sure which one to go with? Any drawbacks for either option. They cost about the same. Any other option I should consider?

Both are quality options, but I think you'll find that the fabspeed tends to be more popular on this forum. I've been running my Fabspeed for almost 10K miles at this point and love it in conjunction with my full Dinan exhaust.

That's what I'm leaning towards.

I love my Fabspeed. I think it was the first company to guarantee no CEL, and it got its good rep from that. There are at least 3 companies now that make catted DP's with no CEL, and I'm not sure you can say one is better than the other.

@mike@x-ph.com would know

I've been running the Active Autowerke catted DP for over a year with no issues. Might be a slightly cheaper option

I went with VRSF catted. Great fitment, packaging and costumer service. Zero issues

I think this is the biggest point here - There are multiple downpipes that offer a No CEL guarantee now, and there has been anything (that I have seen) that distinguishes one from another (performance/quality wise)

keep in mind that running a tune allows you to turn off the CEL anyhow.

Cool, I'll have to look at some of the other options. I'm doing a tune too.

I just watched a YouTube video and that does sound great indeed. Was surprised to see it’s half the price of Fabspeed and Akrapovic, no no cel guarantee though, but the OP will run a tune so he should definitely consider this.

Edit: search Daily Downshift on YouTube for the vid.

Milltek 300 cel here. Cheaper than akra, same HJS Euro 6 core that will pass emissions testing. Flow near as damnit same as 200 cel or decat, but sounds better IMO than decat rasp.

Not much difference between the 2 in terms of quality, fitment performance, and sound. They both do not throw a check engine light either

I bought all this through @mike@x-ph.com Extreme Power House. He gave me a great price!

Kind of pricey for what it is, but if you can afford it, and you’re happy, what does it matter.

i’m just about to receive my AA catted. Is the install reasonably straightforward for the ones who installed on an M2?

Straight forward. Take your time and you'll be fine. You can find videos for M2 or M235I on youtube. It's all the same

I believe that’s more like ….if you want to spend more. Akra definitely has the brand to demand a premium but is it worth it.
