Autogefühl BMW M2 Review

Came across this M2 review from Thomas. I'm really starting to like their channel they always go around the car in great detail, discussing design cues and driving modes etc.. As expected the M2 did not disappoint

No shenanigans or weird races just a nice review! It's long but especially if you're cross shopping online these are the kind of reviews you want!

The german accent also never disappoints

Video: Very complete review of the M2 by Autogefuhl

A very complete review of the M2, including high speed Autobahn drive. Enjoy!

Very good review. I wonder, though, where he got the model with the adjustable suspension ?

While all YouTuber gear heads took the keys and drove the M2 straight to track to see how great it is, i was waiting for Thomas review for quite a time. He is the best reviewer in terms of information of what to expect from the car you're looking for. Exterior interior seats and back seats trunk size informative system driving feel etc.

Unfortunately he admits that he had many technical problems filming this and (didn't mention what exactly). And I don't know how he made the adaptive suspension mistake.

But why don't BMW try to invite car reviewers around the globe at a better road and tracks ! This will change the verdict and scores. Look at the Audi TTRS Madrid globe test drive, everyone were happy including Thomas ( check out his video). Better than "hey take the keys and drive it on the highway and that creepy b-road and tell the ppl what you think"

If you really want to split (very thin) hairs, the MPerf coilovers are technically adjustable.

The guy matter-of-factly said the sport modes have a harsher ride than comfort mode. Not sure how that opinion got established as he was obviously used to driving the car.

Watched this video the other day, aside from what's already been pointed out with his take on suspension there were a few other eyebrow raising statements.

As he points to the driver side door armrest... @8m33s "this one should be leatherette, I guess"

He then says... @8m37s "interesting here on the door handles, there isn't, they say open carbon fiber feeling. It's something you know, not really sure what it's made of"

Finally @8m55s "the M sport steering wheel, I realy like that steering wheel even better if it could be gotten in leatherette..."

Yeah caught those too. I was thinking "leatherette" could be a language issue but the question regarding CF also raised my eyebrows.

The confusion re: chassis in Sport/+ and real open CF vs imitation is so prevalent in these reviews and should really make you question the preparation and validity of these particular M2 videos. Both are like, literally, a 5-10 min bit of research combined.

Still somewhat valuable for other things but certainly not for spoken info/opinion.

During preparation, he could have also taken a look at the AutoBild interview with BMW M M2 Project Leader Frank Isenberg (March 2016): @ 05:02 and 05:58: "That is real carbon, yes." ("Das ist echtes Karbon, ja."):

Copy and pasted from the EVO review

" The dampers soon get switched back from Sport to Normal – they’re far too stiff for these roads, and even in Comfort the M2 can pogo – but I still long for the engine to have more energy higher up the rev band and to not make a monotone grrrr whatever it’s doing…"

Thomas is vegan and advocates for animal-free materials in the automotive industry. If you listen to more of his reviews, he typically always commends a brand for using leatherette or alcantara and/or makes mention of whether those options are available if he is given a car with leather. He does a great job of advocating for the alternatives while not being overly critical of it.

Disappointed this guy thought the suspension was adjustable. Anyway, he is still good for learning about the little features and details of the interior/exterior. Just won't take his word on driving impressions.

I think BMW must have put out misleading information originally. I attended a BMW M2 / M4 track day, to which people who had ordered these models were invited (in France). There was some sort of hero BMW racing driver there and he told me that the adaptive suspension of the M2 had been set to sports for the day. When I told him that the M2 wasn't supposed to have adaptive suspension, he gave me a "you clueless chick" look and insisted that it did ! I knew it didn't, having read this forum, but I let it drop.

People just assume it does because the M235i/M240i does. Plus the iDrive graphic shows the suspension components since the software is the same.

Why does he describe the engine as an "R6?" I heard that twice and didn't understand.

So "row" instead of "inline?" Got it.

Effectively yes (Reihe = row, series, line), but more specifically the German word Reihenmotor which is inline engine in English.
