So glad to see this! It's dipping into the 20s and threatening snow here over the next week or so, and I'm having a set of 18 inch 640M wheels and Pilot Alpin 4s mounted in a couple of days. Wondered how I would get the stock wheelset home!

The dealer could not fit 4 tires in the car so they are shipping them to me gratis.

I was thinking that something like this would be a good way to carry the wheel/tire that would contain the dirt and make it easier to carry...has anyone gone this route ? :

Regardless of whether I get the Contis or Michelins, I'm taking the stock tires home with me.

I may bring one of my kids with me, so here is the question:

Will two tires fit in that puny trunk?

Will three tires fit in the back seat?

An affirmative answer to either question would make my life a bit easier.

Anyone?
4 wheel/tires will fit standing upright in the backseat. I do this all the time when I transport my track tires.

Losers - they need an education.

Standing up- ala life saver roll style - is certainly good for loose tires. Agree .. Easy peasy.

I'm sure they didn't even try and just figured shipping them for $50-60 bucks was the easy button.

I have a feeling the padding on a drum kit back might cause issues with packing then in the car.

Without trying to be a schill for the tire Rack- a Google search indcates they also have tire wheel felts

http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...170101195544:s

At $42 for tire totes and around $30 for the wheel felts -it looks like around a $75 total outlay for 4 wheels and tires

Yeah, maybe. But I'm not complaining bc they're shipping them for free. And when they do get here I'll see if they actually fit.

What kind of tires Jackie? Michelin Pilot Sport A/S? I am a big fan of those and ran them on my FR-S. Never tried them in light snow but they were rather good in the cold+wet.

Conti Extreme Contacts. They seem pretty good so far, and are well rated for an all season tire. I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to drive them in snow soon, not that it is my goal to do that.

I just had winter wheels mounted at the dealer and left one of my summer wheels to have a bit of curb rash rubbed out. The service guys only had to get three wheels in the car, and although I showed them a photo of four wheels snug on the back seat with seat-backs up, they went ahead and dropped the seat-backs and put one wheel in the trunk.

By the way, those silver 640M 18 inch winter wheels and PA4s look great on a blue metallic M2. Way better than the oem anthracite pimpmobile wheels. Waaaaay better. I'm going to get silver 19s for the PSS rubbers next spring.

I got the Michelin pilot sport A/S 3+ just about three weeks ago for my X1. They are an " ultra high performance all season " tire - which for many is practically an oxymoron. If you live in deep snow get a true winter tire.. however there is a niche for all season tires

I Drove to Indiana from Texas days after getting the new tires mounted and was there for about 3-4 " of snow. Ran into ice while heading back to Texas. I saw the traction control light come on (unprovoked ) just once on my trip. I had grip everywhere I went and it took effort to do donuts in a parking lot on the fresh 3-4". That's pretty amazing from 19" tires.

Turn in is not as good as the Extreme performance category Pirelli P ZERO tires that came off ( of course ) and the tire is a lot more comfy to drive daily.

For my purpose of daily driving in Texas where we get occasional snow these are practically overkill. I was very impressed with them in light snow. I also considered the continental extreme contact and a Pirelli all season.

@jackie chiles - After reading the reviews and experiencing the michelins- I suspect that both the other tires would have a little better initial turn in... which I would appreciate- especially on an M2.
