Still under 1000 miles on my M2, but I get under 20 mpg in the city. I can get about 25 mpg on the highway. Mileage definitely isn't the draw for this car. My E36 M3 does closer to 30 mpg highway.
Our Cooper S has a 40 liter tank, but it sips fuel and has a better range between fillups by far. And unless you're driving in East Nowhere, Wyoming, why does it matter? Is stopping for gas really burdensome? |

If so, that has got to be the sole exception to Porsche's habit of charging for every possible thing it can think of beyond a basic car. They make BMW look like pikers in comparison.

It is true. You gotta pay the $150k to get the gt3 though. The front axle lift should be free too, but that costs you $3k!

It's possible! So far, my best highway tank was 31.23 mpg. That was post-break in (~2500 miles) with Shell 93, level grade (also near sea level), ambient temp around 60F (no A/C), and cruise set at 60.
A typical highway tank for me is more like 22. |

A bit of a thread revival here but has anyone considered if the f30/f80x fuel tank (15.7 ga) would fit the f22/f87 chassis (13.7ga)?
It is about a 2 gallon difference but that could be up to an extra 50 miles for some folks. They seem very similar in shape and mounting points (1st pic is f22/87 and 2nd is f30/80) Last edited by bmwstephen; 02-02-2024 at 02:53 PM.. |

I know it's early but I think you are in the running for understatement of the year with that one!
However, I don't believe I'd seen this idea before. FCP EURO has the F30 gas tank listed for $204 with free shipping but IMO, 2 extra gallons (~15%) would be worth that. It can't be that easy, there must have been some reason they changed the tank in the first place.
