Lost in translation. And yes that would be asking for trouble! No front plate no inspection no registration, the meter maids dreams come true.

It is over $100 in NY - something on the order of $50 for no plate plus $80 for some sort of New York State fund of some sort. Basically just a big tax. Don't get me started on my $177 parking ticket in White Plains.

I don't run a front plate in CA - I've been written up for it 4 times over the years that I can recall, 3 of those times were from city cops when I was parallel parked and the other was from a clearly bored CHP cop who pulled me over for it.
I'm going to go plateless up front until I get caught at it again, at which point I'll use a tow hook mount long enough to get the ticket signed off. |
