May not be the real top end, but if the car tops out at 155 mph and can't go any faster - be it because of drag or a computer - then they're technically right.

And that is THE ONLY THING I will defend from that video...ugh
Interesting point. Which car would you want to drive at 155? The M2 or the Ford Focus?

How long does the Focus take to get to that top speed?

The old first version of the Ford Taurus SHO was fast zero to sixty but a dog after that, because it was geared for that 0 to 60 number. I be willing to guess the Focus RS is dead past 120 or so and takes a long to time to reach that top speed. It's not easy to push a car that fast, remember the 140 top speed challenge in the 90s? The Mustang could not do it because it was aerodynamically limited! Not electronically limited, basically not enough road horse power to do it for it's given shape. Yet the lower power Honda Prelude passed 140.

Even with AWD giving the Focus a head start, the M2 passed it at speed and would walk away from it over 100.....that was clear from the video. By the time the Focus got to 155 (limiter of the M2) the M2 would be home in the garage.

It's all fun and games until you blow a tire at 155.

Mike

We agree to disagree.

I watch all of these videos out of curiosity, the Focus RS is a cool car but I cannot imagine spending 37k for a focus. Its always interesting how the pair cars that are not likely to get cross shopped.

They should do M2 vs GT350. I doubt many people cross-shop the M2 with a Focus (albeit a really nice Focus)

Doesn't BMW offer a drivers package that raises the top speed to 168?

People who consider the m2 would rarely be in the market for a focus. The only common thread is the performance. If seems the m2 is getting compared more to the focus than c43 c63 or s5

I can, from my own experience, and car magazine test metrics tell you that you are correct in assuming the RS is substantially slower than the M2. Especially at higher speeds.
My RS struggled quite hard to pass 155mph even on the speedo...
It is hardly any faster accelarting than a Golf R which only has 300hp

Is is a fun car though, the RS. But, IMO, the M2 is in another league performance wise.

His on cars videos are awesome, but I do wish he could pump out more content like how it was before they transitioned to the roadshow.

I recently was wasting some time watching his reviews of mundane cars from the early 2010s and damn, he was way more brutal a few years ago. He opened his review of the VW eos by covering the badge on the back with a piece of paper that said "pos". I think it's silly they even let other people review cars besides him, he's the only one I want to watch (besides Alex Goy).
