Nope, not showing up there for me either. Can you provide a screenshot of your connecteddrive store if it's not too much trouble?

Oh I know, what I mean is there is no Canadian version of the site.

For the Americas the only websites are USA, Brazil and Mexico, but no store website for Canada.

That's for the EU, which gets a ton of ConnectedDrive options that North America doesn't.

AFAIK, CarPlay is not available for purchase through ConnectedDrive in either the U.S. or Canada yet -- and EU users have reported major problems with purchases not going through for CarPlay via the ConnectedDrive store.

The confusion regarding iDrive 5.0 and CarPlay in July-build M2s -- and the differences in policy that currently exist between Canadian and U.S. BMW dealers -- tells me that CarPlay may not be available for purchase in the U.S. for quite a while.

It wont be..

I picked up my 2017 M2 yesterday, with a built date of 7/21. I have asked the CA, the Performance Delivery specialist, they spoke with BMW Genius and I also opened a complaint for this since they are all saying that it won't be able to be retrofitted to the car.

I asked the CA.. had no idea..

I got the car on Thursday at the Performance Delivery Center and also asked there and was told it is not available for my car and it is a 2017 with iDrive 5.0.

I called BMW corporate and was told that it is not currently something that can be retrofitted, ended up opening a formal complaint to see if they contact me..

Interesting. I used to think that I would need that (very expensive) iPhone console cradle.
But since CarPlay works wirelessly, I'll just leave it in my pocket unless I need to charge it.

Just as a side note: AFAIK CarPlay doesn't require much software in the car audio system at all.
It's almost like the Apple Watch with watchOS 1.0: the Watch was basically a remote display.
Most of the processing was done in the iPhone. Similar to using AirPlay with Apple TV.

Congratulations! Enjoy it!
Is there a quick way to switch between CarPlay / Apple Maps and BMW Navigation Pro?

I hear that the BMW system is the best in the business.
Apple Maps is slowly getting better, but I doubt it's as good as BMW's system.

Picked up my 2017 m2 today in Calgary and it has functioning CarPlay. Used the apple maps and played music from my playlists on the way home. My build date was week 31.

Week 31 has no issues, cars built in July which are 2017 are the ones in that Limbo.

Australia Carplay from November production

For Australian purchasers I have confirmed with my dealer that Carplay is available from November 2016 production onwards approx $623 price for Carplay.

I managed to bump my October build to be November build...

Thanks to DTNJNQ in another thread for giving heads up on this.

Disable Carplay

Does anyone know if disabling the *_APPLE_LIC key in esys is a safe way to turn off carplay? Am I going to need a dealer to reenable it or is the license itself stored elsewhere?

Reason: Carplay is really shitty especially the wireless carplay implementation.
  • Its maps are bad, BMW nav is better.
  • You have to switch the phone mode to bluetooth/non carplay mode to use a loadable app (laptimer, etc..).
  • The car doesnt seem to remember if the device is carplay or not after doing this so I get BT connection sometimes carplay others.
