I have an M2C. Which I love more than my own children. But, by the same token, the M2CS will be objectively a better car.

Given the choice between an M2CS at MSRP versus an M2C at 10% off MSRP, I would choose the M2CS.

Unfortunately, I can't justify selling / trading in my M2C which already has nearly 25k miles on it, taking the massive depreciation hit, as well as the crazy CA sales tax I paid originally, in order to upgrade.

I envy all of you guys who are going to get the ultimate M2. When it comes time, I want lots of photos to drool over.

People feel the need to be right whatever their opinion is. Even if they yield a partial point. It's all bench racing anyway until history is in the books. Nobody has a crystal ball to know how good the car will or won't be, exclusive it will or won't be, how well it actually sells by the end of the model run in each market, what the price does each year, etc. There's literally not a single first drive review or even known full parts change list. Just press releases and opinions. On top of that everyone likes different things or there would only be one color and formula for the ideal car to begin with.

I have tried to say it as best I can . . . negativity is not about the M2CS, per se. To say anything negative about the M2CS is dissing the M2C (aka M2CS v1).

No dissing of anyone who wants an M2CS. I dig when a fellow enthusiast gets a new car that they really want, for whatever reason they want it.

This is about BMW and its pending distribution of the M2CS. 'Limited edition' billing and associated hyper-inflated price-tag.

SDH

I do not anticipate anything but 'rave reviews' . . . after all, the M2CS is a M2C.

I have yet to see anything negative on the M2C.

What I do anticipate, and won't buy into for a second, is 'the M2CS is so much more special than the M2C. Worth every penny of the $30K+ (and apparently growing) price jump over the M2C.'

Interesting shot of the underbelly in this video. Is this the normal underside of the M2 or has something been added to aid aerodynamics and downforce? Pause it at 1:20

If you're referring to the two flaps, by each wheel, they're standard in all models, not bespoke.

I don't know the official name but the wheel flaps help direct the flow of air through the wheel arches thus improving aerodynamics.

With the exception of the carbon fiber lip under-panel, everything else looks petty much the same as the M2C.

The large gray area under the center. Can't tell if it's a skid plate or what. Seems odd, or it's just the floor of the cabin

That's the standard panel that's on the M2C also.

All 500 for Germany may be spoken for.

If we go with one of the first figures of 450 for the US, then that would get us to roughly 1600. Are there enough remaining sizable markets to unload another 600 units without dumping them into markets that a currently getting allotments.?

Usually a well-informed source. If true, I wonder how many 'coin flipper' speculators are among those M2 CS orders, planning to put the car back on the market still this year, hoping to make a 'quick buck'.

Question for those with an M3 CS, M4 CS or M4 GTS about the air vent integrated in the bonnet (for example forum fellow CanAutM3).

Of course no car bonnet fully keeps the engine safe from wind, cold, humidity and dirt. But what are your experiences about the 'direct access' for ingress of exterior elements: the air vent.

Except if I was optically misled by the CF bonnet structure, I believe to recall that on the M2 CS you can spot a part of the carbon fibre engine brace right under the air vent. OK, the air vent features a mesh, but it ain't as structurally refined as on Porsche air vents (protection against small objects ingress, such as pebbles).

I can imagine that BMW arranged for rain accessing through the air vent to get properly canalized away from the engine compartment. But what about for example an idiot pouring a can of soda or beer inside the air vent: does the sticky beverage get partially 'trapped' inside engine compartment components ? What about 'direct access' of dirt (sand, mud, bird droppings, etc.), pebbles, cold, humidity, snow and even sunlight mercilessly beaming down ?

M2 CS air vent:

Ticks me off that 8 series gets more individual colors, and the M2CS only comes in 4 options.

E46 M3 CSL: a color choice between Silver Grey Metallic and Black Sapphire Metallic. 110 kg diet. 1383 cars produced during an 8-month production run (May 2003 - December 2003) and never marketed as "Limited Edition". Those were the days...

E46 M3 CSL options list: 2160 or 2320 EUR for full-option:

Garage List
Official pricing announced in Australia which ties in with what the dealer told me. Generally add $20k by the time it is on road due to taxes etc.

It seems the country allocation is now down to 70.

The CS is totally worth it, something about it strikes the right emotional cords, plus it looks rich, so you still have a car that's capable of being able to drive through the 'hood and make your enemies sick.. This is an important aspect to some folks..

It would of been cool since BMW illogical took away the Comfort Access feature, they should of thrown in some bespoke, "dancing" OLED taillights, like on the M4 CS, so the owner had something to watch, for the extra time it would now take them, to rummage through their pockets, in order to hit the unlock button, so you can enter your 2021 vehicle - '90s Style, all in the name of weight savings.

I still totally like it, if I had the financial capacity, I would totally bum-rush a dealer for one, 90's key fob remote or not.

If it actually saved weight that could be measured, there might just barely be a point on their side, but dumping CA loses 1 to 1.5lbs at most (tally from the thread on E90post) -- mainly the module and antennas. Poll all the owners of CS' -- do you want to save 1lb and lose CA? Guessing that poll comes back 95+% wanting CA. In the M3/M4CS thread, that seems to be the most common complaint about the car.

It appears to be some sort of marketing game plan some "wizard" dreamed up at BMW whereby they think the market as a whole will be "impressed" that the car doesn't have CA and therefore it is more "special".

Seeing the visible key hole on the driver's door handle is nasty. Especially when coming from handles that retract into the door so they remain flush with the body line. CS stick out and have silver key hole

The M2C is the same way, even with CA it has a key hole. IND sells a painted cover with no hole to cover it.

Why? The 8 series is a more expensive car and higher in BMW's range.
