BMW CCA $500 rebate for M2C - NEW TERMS

Just received from BMW CCA - If you intend on getting the $500 rebate you need to join before new year or wait 6 months to purchase/lease.

As you may know, BMW NA has provided the incredible BMW CCA Membership Reward Rebate program benefit for years, which has saved members thousands of dollars. In addition, this fantastic member benefit has helped grow the club and introduced many new BMW owners to a world of phenomenal, enthusiast driving and social events. This partnership with BMW NA has helped the BMW CCA grow into the largest and most diverse BMW club in the world.

As with any program this size, there are changes and updates introduced each year. For the 2020 calendar year, the program is receiving several updates. The most significant update is the addition of a six-month waiting period. Individuals who purchase a three-year or longer membership after December 31, 2019, will be required to wait six months before taking delivery of a new BMW and applying for the rebate. However, everyone that purchases a three-year membership by December 31, 2019, will be grandfathered in under the current terms and will not have to wait six months. This new change will only affect memberships purchased after December 31, 2019.

As always, members who are in good standing, and who have been members of the club for 12 consecutive months or longer without a lapse are also eligible to apply for the rebate.

Keen observers of this new change may note an individual with a one-year membership, who has been a member for six months already, can buy a three-year membership after December 31, 2019, and become immediately eligible to apply for the rebate.

For full program details, rules, and eligibility requirements, please visit: https://www.bmwcca.org/vehicle_rebate

Please note: The updated 2020 rebate application will be uploaded to the website once it is released by BMW NA.

No, you fill out an application and send it over with a copy of your bill of sale or lease agreement (If I recall, it's been a while). It takes more like 2 months to get a check in the mail.

I've heard from 2 people recently that they've been waiting for months for their checks. Not sure what's up there.

How did you manage that? I submitted my application back in July. it was approved by CCA in October and i have yet to receive a check. when i last contacted CCA about the status of my rebate, I was told that BMW NA is backed up processing rebates.

I also submitted in July, approved by BMW CCA end of August and it's been with BMW NA for over 17 weeks (they originally estimated ~10 weeks).

I contacted BMW CCA this week and they were going to look into it and suggested I also contact BMW customer service. I called and phone rep agreed it was abnormally late and escalated it. Got a call this morning from the person looking into it and said they would get back to me with an answer.

This was a CPO purchase of a 2017 (also $500, same rebate as New). I got my first BMW CCA rebate back in 1996 and I seem to recall getting it within a month!

Lucky or good timing, I guess. I scanned my bill of sale and submitted everything online. Hang in there. They'll come through for you guys.

Update

I contacted BMW customer service. They stated it shouldn't have taken this long and that they would look into it.

After 3 business days, I get a voicemail from a customer relations rep who said that a check is being cut that very day.

Let's see, BMW makes you spend $130ish in return for a $500+ check and people wonder why there is a wait?

Seriously, the a Club is in trouble and BMW is throwing them a lifeline - screw the people who joined for other reasons.

It took a few months to get my rebate check from BMWCCA. One of the many awesome benefits of the car club!

The wait is not the club's fault. it's on BMW. Besides, I think the issue is not so much about the wait but the wait beyond 8-10 week we were quoted. i have been waiting for 26+ weeks!

To be clear, I never said it was the Club's fault -I was simply pointing out that the Club is in trouble (financial wise) and this is BMW helping them get people to sign up - and when you offer free money, suddenly everyone wants in!

From a membership perspective (I work with not for profits like the BMW CCA), doing something like this devalues the membership. Basically you have a bunch of people joining simply to get a rebate - worse the long term members, those that have received rebates in the past due to their loyalty with the club, feel cheated and start to wonder if the club is more about staying afloat then actually being membership centric.

But that's enough on the soapbox

PS - the Dues do increase significantly Feb 1 for everyone interested.

I received my reimbursement check about a month ago - did ED on 10/1, applied for rebate on 10/15.
