When the European pricing is €95,000 I can't see this being a great option for DE or Club Racing, that seems like a huge entry cost. I'd absolutely love one but I can't see that being worth the cost.

I wonder if we will be able to get that wing and those wheels aftermarket from BMW Motorsport akin to m235i race wing. Any thoughts @IND-Distribution ?

Unfortunately, it's not street-legal.

For one, it has strait-pipes, no cats; which is big no-no in tree-hugging states like California.

Also, as someone else pointed out, the headlights are not homologated for street-usage. I'm not sure if you're aware but the US has some wonky auto-lighting rules. Something like this would never get approved for street usage.

So you'll have to settle for the regular CS instead.

The US price for the M2 CS street version surely has to be announced in January?

That's what I thought was tied to Daytona next month (I was wrong).

No? If it's anything close to a straight euro to $ conversion, talking less for a legit 450 bhp BMW factory racecar than 991 GT3's and RS's.

LOL thanks for circling that. I didn't even notice that in the original picture. I'm an idiot.

For the headlights, it's most likely a weight savings thing
I don't see why, the M240i Racing uses Adaptive LED Headlights without concern for weight reduction.
I believe they are concerned with weight reduction. If you look close enough you can see the headlights aren't for street use. I'm not sure what the exact difference is from the street car, but weight reduction and deletion of the dipping beam may be one.
Don't all M2 have faux inner headlights ?

Yes, there is no "pupil" on the inner angel eyes

The M2 CS Racing in the video below your comment has the adaptive headlights. Not sure if they have full functionality, but they have the hexagonal angel rings.

Maybe they do maybe they don't. I get my M2CS-Racing in July. I'll have a full update for you then. Maybe I'll even weigh all 4 headlights(pre-LCI, LCI, Motorsport, CS-Racing) and share the results.

Similar to the M4 GT4, the M2 CS Racing comes with power sticks. So it depends. The sticks range from 280-360 hp and it's up to the series when and where we get different outputs. However, the evo package comes out in October of 2020. From what I'm hearing now it's primarily a software update/upgrade where we'll get power sticks good for about 450hp.

That's about 200 lbs of fuel. A reason why the tanks are so small on these cars is because, I'm thinking, BMW is very aware on how heavy the M2 is on its own. We only add 75 lbs when filling up (assuming it's 12.5 gallon capacity).
EPA calculates gas mileage based on 20%(could be less) of the size of the tank.

It's in the best interest of the MNFRs to put a smaller tank for overall weight etc.

Also I believe the BMW Motorsport fuel tank allows for fueling from both sides of the car which explains the high cost but I wish someone would bring out an affordable tank that fits the M2 like the Lotus ones for the Exige.

BMW M2 CS Racing celebrates debut in North America.

January 31, 2020

The test and development phase for the BMW M2 CS Racing is entering the home stretch. Now the time has come to present the new entry-level car in the BMW M Customer Racing product range to the public, and to potential customers. Last weekend, the BMW M2 CS Racing celebrated its North American debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA).

Munich. The intention is for the car to continue the success story started by the BMW M235i Racing and the BMW M240i Racing in recent years.

Fans were able to steal a first glance at the newest member of the family at the first highlight of the new season, where three different BMW racing cars were in action – the winning BMW M8 GTE and the BMW M6 GT3 in the 24-hour race, and the BMW M4 GT4 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race. The BMW M2 CS Racing was on display in the event area near the BMW M Experience truck, where anyone could come along to take a look.

BMW Group Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt said: “BMW racing cars have enjoyed regular success in North America since the 1970s and they really thrill the fans. That applies to our GT cars and to the BMW M2 CS Racing’s predecessors that helped BMW customer teams to secure countless wins and titles over the years. From the 2021 season onwards, we are aiming to add a new chapter to our history of success in North American motorsport with the BMW M2 CS Racing.”

From the start of the 2020 season, responsibility for the sale and distribution of BMW race cars for customer racing lies with BMW M GmbH. Their Head of Sales and Marketing, Thomas Felbermair, said: “North America is the most important market for BMW M worldwide, therefore it is important for us to present the BMW M2 CS Racing as our new entry-level car for the first time in the US. With this car we will not only be represented in classic motor racing, but also in the club racing segment and in the Track Day community. We have many loyal fans and customers in North America, who all share an emotional connection to our brand. Consequently, we see plenty of potential for our new car in North America. We are looking forward to giving our fans, customers and BMW dealers a close look at the BMW M2 CS Racing at various events during the next few weeks. I am sure that they will love it.”

After appearing at Daytona, the BMW M2 CS Racing was presented to North American BMW dealers during a conference outside Miami (USA). In early March, the car will be shown at the TC America season-opener at Austin (USA), where it will be sent into race competition by customer teams from the 2021 season onwards.

BMW M2 CS Racing to continue the success story in North America.
The BMW M2 CS Racing can build on the extremely successful history of its predecessors in North America. Since 2016, BMW customer teams have claimed three team titles and two drivers’ championships with the BMW M235i Racing and the BMW M240i Racing in TC America and the previous series. The aim is for the new car to continue in this vein.

The BMW M2 CS Racing offers the best setup for successful entry into motorsport. The new customer racing car is powered by an S55 six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo Technology which, with a capacity of 2,979 cc in the racing version, achieves between 280 hp (205 kW) and 365 hp (268 kW), depending on the Balance of Performance or Permit B classification. The maximum torque of 550 Nm is transmitted by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which has been applied using specialist motorsport software. Another highlight of the BMW M2 CS Racing is its engine management. As with the BMW M4 GT4, in the future this will be controlled via power sticks, which enable various performance levels to be programmed and retrieved depending on the stipulated Balance of Performance.

In parallel, BMW Motorsport is developing an upgrade variant of the BMW M2 CS Racing with 450 hp, providing a compelling racing car for the club racing segment that is rapidly gaining in popularity in North America.

We are taking delivery of 2 cars next month for Europe endurance races - I doubt we will see US deliveries till October 2020. BMW has some hurdles with EPA/DOT from what we understand.

Wondering how close the 450hp spec of this car is to the GT4 class? And if i can be modified to meet the class spec. Currently looking into the supra GT4 and cayman GT4 clubsport. But would love to race the M2 if it is an option.

Jevi Javi what class are you wanting to run in? I Don't think the M2 CS Racing won't be running in the SRO GT4 class no matter what HP level.

Buy a M4 GT4 or another built GT4 car for that.
