ASD delete cable, what is the original cable's part no?

I'm thinking of putting together an ASD delete cable of my own with switch/relay so I can turn it on or off with a remote switch.

I was looking at realoem but couldn't find the original cable which I thought I'd order. I found the amp page and an audio cable page at realoem that only had one huge harness.

Any ideas?

I know I saw a schematics page of the ASD stuff maybe the part number can be found there. I'll go look for that page!

OK. So I misunderstood this slightly. I thought the ASD delete cable replaced a short cable between the amp and the ASD unit. But it's obviously not replacing a cable, it's just connected inbetween the larger wire harness and the ASD unit.

So now I'm trying to find out if I can order the connector shells and connector pins to make my own cable. Why I want this is that I want to possibly add some relays to be able to turn ASD on or off as I like.

With ASD delete, can you hear the difference between open and closed exhaust flap?

I finally tested ASD delete and yup, a nice improvement for sure!

But with ASD off I was switching between comfort and sport mode and... I really didn't hear any clear difference in sound with the exhaust flap open or closed. It was more of a "maybe I hear a difference".

I tried with full power at low revs, high revs, cruise and so on. But no, no clear definite difference.

What is the driving situation when you think it's most obvious if it's open or closed when you drive without ASD?

Compare comfort and sport +, not sport. I think sport + opens the flap on an otherwise stock car.

I actually did that too. Still just maybe hearing some minor difference. Absolutely no clear and definite differences. I doubt the flap is broken, I guess there would be an error shown if it was?

Yes, but that's because I have a valve controller. If you leave the valve operation set to auto/stock it's hard to hear any difference at all, let alone knowing when the valve is open or shut.

You can control the valve(s) manually with an app like Bimmerlink or with a valve controller like CG Precision and then you can actually switch between open and shut yourself and listen for differences in volume. It becomes very obvious once you force open/shut them. If they're set to auto you never know what the hell they're doing. They could be partially open or shut for all you know.

Might just be easier to get the cable from Technik and then build in your switch there. Without buying in bulk the connector ends, it's quite expensive. Good luck ordering from BMW.

The stock amp harness goes to quite a few places, and it's also connected via CAN for the ASD, so it's not a simple cable to replace.

The problem with the cable from Technik is that it is missing a bunch of cables and pins disabling the possibility to be switched to default mode (asd on). It's an "asd off only" cable so to speak

So it turns out even on the 2017 M2 PE, ASD causes droning at light throttle at 2-3k rpm.

After I coded it off via the BimmerCode app, not only does the stereo sound better, the car is way more quiet in comfort "sport" exhaust and light throttle. But still livens up in sport+ and exhaust in track mode.

I'm still going to install the ASD delete harness as I noticed a light hiss on the stereo once the ASD was coded off, it may have been there even when it was on.

Will report back once the harness is installed
Did you install the cable?

I had an old Technics harness from my MINI's (2014and 2016). I installed it in my brand new car. I did not really use any functions before this....but I notice now that the "car voice" and people that I call on my phone increase and decrease in volume. Sometimes they go almost mute. I taking the 3 day old car back to the dealer tomorrow....but do you think it could be the harness?

Not sure, but they did redo the harness on 2016 due to BMW incorrect schematics. But I've read that affected bass volume. Don't know if it affected your issue though. You might write them and ask. Im pretty sure its not harness related.

Boostm3.

Dude you nailed it. Pulled the harness (luckily i had not clipped all the trim back. I have the annoying ASD but the bass is way better and I can hear calls clearly now! I will email Technic and see if I can mod the harness or need to buy a new one. Thanks for your help!!

When did you get your harness? If its one of the early ones before they redid them, you should get a no cost exchange!

Not sure if it is the same as for the M2. The harness worked perfectly on the HK system in the MINI. Honestly I'm looking the wiring diagram for the car and I think the wiring for the ASD is the same as the 2014 MINI. All pin numbers are the same. I originally made a harness of my own but I was using used pins and parts from a wrecked BMW and it did not work perfectly....so I bought a harness from Elias.
I'll confirm all the pins while I wait for him to get back to me.

Elias was going to send me a new harness. He was about to mail it when I stopped him. Looking at the wiring diagram there were just 2 pins swapped. Easy fix!
Swapped them and returned the harness to the car. All works perfectly now. Full bass and I can hear callers and the "BMW Voice" is a constant volume!
Think I will go for a drive!

GregoryK thanks for that update. Does that mean the same harness works for multiple BMW cars? Perhaps all HK BMW's use the same harness?

Question for those who installed the harness: Is there sound cancellation going on that the harness also removes? Although in comfort mode the ASD engine sound is off I’m hearing what sounds like white noise that I hope the harness removes as well.
