Today, after wondering why my status has been "order documented" (still to this day) I called BMW and they confirmed that my car isn't even scheduled until 3/9 to start production.

Am I missing something? Based on the OP's timeline I wont see this car until second week of May or so (I'm on the East Coast). And this is supposed to be their first car. I'm glad I don't have to wait as long as some of the people here are, but I would have thought that I'd be driving it before then. Were all the first allocation cars supposed to hit about the same time, or does the location/size of the dealer make a difference?
if it's any consolation, I am in the same boat down here in RI, #2 on the list, in the order bank, waiting for an allocation, fingers crossed it happens in early March. And yes, from start of build I am expecting it to take maybe 2 months to be in my hands, so just waiting it out. It takes what it takes I guess...

BMW Genius told me my car was released from the port today, and should arrive at the dealer tomorrow. Exciting if true. Still expecting the dealer to hang onto it til April 16, though.

I just called BMW Genius and they said that my car did not have a scheduled release date though it was originally slated to release to my dealer on March 5th. He said that usually this happens when BMW wants to hold the cars for a general market release which he indicated would be early April. I know none of this is news to anyone, just throwing it out there since your post got me excited.

The canadian codes are the same as the US codes, it's just without the "1" in front.

If you received a VIN then production has at least begun on your vehicle.

Hi,

Is ED open on weekends over in Munich? Can we check out our cars on Sat/Sun and drive away with it?

Hello all,

First time poster here but have been reading up for a few months about the M2. I've emailed several dealers about getting on some waiting lists, but one of them was telling me that ED was not available through many of the dealerships now. He said there may be some "mega dealers" able to do it but no one else can. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

Exclamation

Looking for summer or fall 2017 Euro Delivery for a 2017/18 M2. On two waiting lists in Metro Detroit. One dealer will do Euro delivery for the MSRP less 5% Euro Delivery discount. The other dealer won't do Euro Delivery and price is MSRP. I just got on the lists at the beginning of August for $1,000 deposit and both dealers said at least one year from now. I'm 6 on one list and 8 on the other. I will most likley take the first one available if I can hold out that long. Funny how cars get added daily to Car Guru on both coasts. Hmmm....

If you're willing to do ED you can use any dealer in the country.

I recently put my name on the order bank and am currently #4. Small chance atleast 1 person ahead of me will decides to opt out. I hope to get the car by the summer but not sure exactly how many allocations my dealer will get by then. I also called another local dealer that actually has an open allocation for me but they want 5k over MSRP and told me that they get more allocations because they sell over MSRP. I doubt that is actually true and perhaps a way to induce me to buy from them instead of waiting to pay sticker price at another dealership. Anyone have any idea how allocations work exactly for dealerships? Also I want to mention both dealerships have received atleast 2 M2's each this year already within last month. I think that is a good sign and hope it stays that way.

I might be dense, but I don't see where I can track the build progress on the My BMW site. Point me in the right direction?

Here's a shortcut to save you time calling in to check on the progress:
Create a new contact in your phone with the following number but replace the vehicle production number with your actual prod number. I'm sure this is everyone's daily routine!

1800-831-1117,,2,,,VehicleProductionNumber,1

Broker Assist

So I first want to say, it is worth the wait. I picked up my M2 BSM 6spd last week and it is everything I had hoped for and more!!!!

Nine months ago I called my pal at SF BMW who said it was gonna be a long wait, their first M2 went off the floor at $20K over MSRP (and they continue to get well over MSRP). Soooooo, I called a car broker I had used for my wife's car and said hey, can you find an allocation at MSRP?...to which he said he would look into it and got back to me. Next day he called informing me there were no opportunities yet, but in time it would happen; and when it did I would have 24 hrs to say yay or nay. So when the broker called in mid October, I was ready to say yay...and indeed the order went in specd as desired (BSM 6 spd, Exec and Apple play). My broker then called a few weeks later and informed me that my car was going to be built during the first to second week of December....and should arrive in California port Jan 15th. Of course I went into hyper drive, kinda freaked that maybe I should have waited to the LCI etc...etc...
Gotta say, I am still in break in mode but this car far exceeded my expectation which were pretty high. So be patient, and it will happen, personally I would call a few of the brokers in your area. Mine charged me $750 over and was worth every penny.

That's a good trick. I wish we could still get the numerical codes, but this is better than nothing.

I wouldn't say it's training to drive the car but more about efficiency and logistics.
