OUTGROWN ***HEX Tuning for F87 ///M2 ECU VF Engineering

My hardware has surpassed the capabilities of the VF Engineering stage 2 hex tune.

I already asked them to transfer the cable to work with my e46 M3. Denied.

What the hell am I supposed to do with this unusable cable and tune now?

Did I literally waste $800 (or whatever I paid) on a product that I used maybe 50 times? And I can't use it for anything else, unless I downgrade my car?

cAN't tELL iF SaRCasm.

The HEX Flash Cable is merely the delivery mechanism for the
software to your ECU. Once used, they are locked to the VIN
for that particular vehicle, which means it is non-transferable.

What you've paid for, and have enjoyed since November of 2017,
was the software itself which added more power and excitement
to you BMW ///M2. It may also be worth noting that even at the
original price of $800, the software upgrade for your ///M2 was
likely the single most advantageous power upgrade you've made,
at the absolute lower dollar per horsepower.

That being said, we do offer what we believe to be a generous
customer appreciation discount to our repeat customers,
which happens to be greater than what some piggy-backs, and
other brands with transferable software licenses, typically sell
for on the used market.

VF-E did give me a discount because I've been a customer of yours since 2006. Yes, the product worked as advertised. I'm not complaining about any of that. I was told that VF was going to work with hardware vendors to either create their own turbo upgrade or certify another vendor's turbo upgrade to work with the hex tuning. That never happened. So now I have a cable that i can't use unless I downgrade my hardware. That's my complaint.

I wasn't aware of bootmod in 2017 when I bought the vf-e hex tune, and I was counting on VF to develop their platform further, as I said above.

I'll list the 2 pieces that won't work with VF-E hex tune for you:

1) TTFS/XDI fuel pump which requires an a special tuning parameter just to start the engine becuase of a signaling difference as compared to the stock HPFP

2) Pure Stage 2 turbo, which uses completely different wheels

And although my 3) precision raceworks ignition coil set would function, it cannot be taken full advantage of, unless it's specifically tuned for.

***My point is that the hex tuning product line for F87 M2 hits a ceiling. I can't use it anymore. I can't sell it. So it's worthless to me now, and that sucks.

LoL, that's a comical comparison. The hex stuff isn't obsolete like your TV connectors.

Maybe if more people requested that VFE develop their hex tune for an alternate turbo, instead telling people to "just eat it", we would all have another option.

Seems like a lot of R&D costs for a fringe of the market. They built a product for a specific purpose, and it seemed to fill that role. They aren't obligated to spend tens of thousands of dollars in an effort to appease a very small percentage of the market. Thats just bad business. How many tunes did you go through before you got to Hex? Did you expect it to just infinitely scale to Stage "N" ?

You're putting words in my mouth here. I don't expect stage "N".
VF could pick the most popular upgrade turbo, pure stage 2. They're already done the costly part of R&D. They would just need to make a new and safe tune for that setup. And their hex tune for the OG M2 is exactly what you you said it is not; an investment of "tens of thousands of dollars in an effort to appease a very small percentage of the market".

The hex tune was the first and only tune I ran in my M2. Now I have MHD to support my hardware, and will get a custom tune soon to follow.
