It does a great job keeping garbage out of the rads.
Great for the track.

Discuss if you'd like.

I'm thinking reduced airflow. With an engine that is very sensitive to high temperatures, especially at the track, it needs all the airflow it can get. I'll pass.

I just like that it hides all the rock dings all over the radiators.

I wouldn't use them. Those chicken wires essentially cut certain amount of airflow into the engine bay...fresh airflow is to generate power and to cool the engine + ancillary ...

Nicely done.
Should keep some of the track booger’s / race rubber off the grills too.

I would prefer them in black to match grill. Where did you source and how was it installed - will it include removing bumper?

If it works for you, that's good, your car, your money, your mods..

However, it does provide a pretty surprising amount of restriction of air flow, and it gets worse over time.
When you look at it as a percentage of opening, ignoring everything else, you'll find that the actual wire takes up a pretty large percentage of the opening that light would pass through.
One you start measuring airflow, you'll find that in addition to the baseline (very low speed restriction), once air starts bouncing off the wire, the effective size of the holes between the wires is further reduced, and the faster you go, the more it is choked off.
On top of that (pun intended), once you start collecting butterflies and klag, on the screen, flow is even further reduced.

If you want to do a pretty good demonstration of the effect, use water. Put a screen over the top of a 5 gallon bucket. Using another 5 gallon bucket (Home Depot sells them cheap and they are great for carwashing later) dump the water through the screen into the empty bucket. You can pour it very fast, basically dumping it, and then measure the amount of water that made it into the bottom bucket. You can also pour at the highest rate possible before the water starts splashing outside the bucket. Measure the time to complete the pour, and the amount of water in the bottom bucket.

Then remove the screen and repeat the experiments.

Compare the answers for yourself...If you want to really convince yourself, block a few of the holes as if the screen had collected bugs and repeat.

Have fun!

This must be how PETA feels when they see caged livestock. "Poor M2 can barely breathe in that cage" lol

Every race car has these to protect the coolers from debris puncturing the coolers. Granted, race cars don't have oem coolers and have better air ducts to pull air through the coolers so it mitigates the obstruction but if you are primarily tracking the car then this is good to have.
