I know that people with Valentine 1 / V1 radar detectors have complained about getting constant laser alerts. Might be happening with other RDs too.
Thanks to a 2-series technical training document (check out that thread over on Bimmerfest to download it), I now know why!  There are infrared emitters and sensors surrounding the LCI iDrive touchscreen. They use it for "hand detection" so they can make the screen highlight certain functions prior to you actually touching the screen. Some radar detectors are super sensitive to any/all IR, so that is what is setting them off. Attached to this thread is a screenshot of the relevant page.
