To bm3 or not?

Contemplating whether or not to flash with bootmod3...

So tempted, but worried about warranty.

What say you?

People have ran 600hp turbo upgraded N55s without issue for 10ks of miles. Id say the fully forged closed deck motorsport equivalent will have very little to worry about if you're BM3ing even to the 500hp mark. Im going to get it done in the summer, but I'm thinking the BM3 450hp CS map may be the sweet spot for the road. Just because 500hp won't be very exploitable. Just to restore the top end etc.

Okay, so stupid question...

Any issues running the m3/m4 cs map on my m2c 6MT since the cs only comes in DCT?

Id highly doubt you'd have any issues. The manual can take 600nm no problem. I believe BM3 allows boost by gear too so you could get it tweaked if it was too torquey low down and just get the full beans to come on when you've hooked up. Get it set up on a dyno and you'll be golden.

Not sure why everyone is talking about over powering it. Increase throttle throughout the range. Upgrade tires and plenty grip for stage 2. I mean it's pretty cheap to get VRSF DPs/charge pipes and some new tires. While your in there upgrade the intakes. Turns this thing into a monster.

Definitely doing it in the next couple months. I'll just flash the oem CS or BM3's CS+ map and call it a day tho. I don't need anything more than that. Stock tires aren't great even for the stock power/tq level so I'm planning to go with 265/295 setup soon as well.

I think it you're tuning to the same levels BMW does stock with their other cars, they're is probably little to no risk that the tune causes a problem.

However something unrelated to the tune could go bad, and you have to be willing to take the risk of paying out of pocket for that. The s55 has been mostly reliable as I understand it. Spun Crank Hub is the big one but still rare. Something about the intercooler leaking fluid someplace it's not supposed to came up recently as well.

I just got BM3 for mine. Not had time to use it yet. Got a good deal from a UK dealer so just bought it.

Intend to try CS to start with, just enjoy playing round like the old JB4/335i days but better!

I'll do BM3 in a year or so while people beta test the longevity a bit. I know it's not an actual test of longevity but w/e I'm satisfied with 400whp

Strange that they didn't say that before...

So what OTS maps are good to run on the 6MT?

They told me that the most conservative tune for the 6MT would be the Stage 1 one.

I just flashed the CS tune to my 6MT two days ago without any issues whatsoever.

But just to be sure, I opened up a ticket this morning and got the following response so no worries:

I know several people who use CS or CS+ maps on their 6MT. That's weird. There has to be some confusion. I'll contact them again. I do know BPM also allows using oem CS map on a 6MT car.

Side question...

So, my laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port...can I just get an OBD2 to USB cable? ...or must I get an USB to Ethernet adapter?

Curious how you like the CS tune on the M2C? Is it a noticeable difference? Problems with traction?
