Thanks. Great idea using chain pipe cutter. I'm going to try that first. If it works well then saves removing complete exhaust and connectors.

Just another question. By installing the mid-pipes, you are removing the two cats. Is this legal from an emission standpoint and will it void the warranty?

Officially yes and yes... But I wonder how strict Canada is Warranty is a question of a great relationship with your dealer and of course you don't have warranty on aftermarket parts, but I don't see a reason why it would void the warranty on your whole car.

MR
Emission testing doesn't exist in Canada
Cant see any chance of warranty voiding unless you change dps

Arrived Friday still in box lol. I did install the app and module to remove the fake exhaust, now just how to install this exhaust. Excited to get her on and hear the difference.

There is some confusion i have regarding cutting. Looking at the first post pictures it sure looks a lot different in where one would cut compared to the on line manual. Would like to clarity prior cutting. Hopefully I don't have to line up and than cut. Hoping there is an actual measurement location so it can be very close to match up pipes.

Got one myself on Friday and put it on Saturday. What on line manual are you referring to? They included a set of instructions in the box, with pictures (which are clearly the same pictures/car from the first post). The included instructions clearly show how/where to measure/cut the factory pipes. I followed those instructions and used a chain cutter (pretty easy to do). I was super worried that it was actually going to be cut too long and I'd have to take off the rear and cut it shorter again, but the fit was okay once I had everything bolted back up. If anything, I had ~1/2" gap between the pipes, but the clamps were more than enough to bridge that gap.
I am going to need to get back under the car and make a few adjustments, because the mid pipe rattles against a heat shield at certain throttle positions now. It's a bit too tucked up - need to get a bit more clearance under the car. Should just be a matter of monkeying with the band clamps.
Quite happy with the sound though, especially with the valves open. The sound you get if you dump fuel and lift is nasty in the best of ways.

My mid-pipes arrive a week ago. However, there was no instructions in box, but luckily, I got AA to forward me instructions prior.

I only have 1200km on car, so will wait till 2000km service before I'll install it.

Question - did you cut the pipes with exhaust still on car or removed muffler as well?

I took it completely off first. You might be able to cut it with a chain cutter while still on the car, but it's literally just 4 more bolts (and undo the connectors on the exhaust valves) to take it off. I did the whole thing alone and spent no more than 40 minutes pulling the whole system from the car. Wanted to paint the muffler anyway.

With the valves closed, only a little bit louder. But actually loud enough now to hear gear changes, so that's a needed improvement IMO.
With the valves opened, plenty loud enough. Deeper and with just a bit of rasp.

I plan to throw on the VSC-2 valve controller and I'm happy with the exhaust. It will actually be nice to have a volume knob when I want one. Neighbors and passengers will appreciate this too.

*Edit* I should also clarify that ASD is off in my car.

I came to accept this car would never match the S65 in sound long before I pulled the trigger (and I had mine loud with a Challenge race midpipe and a Gintani rear). But this setup will be enough to do for me without dropping a stupid amount of cash.

I am in Tampa... and I started putting the coilovers on then got a call for work... so the car is in the air without much done. I had to drive my racecar around...in pouring rain...with drag radials LOL

Decided to use a carbide sawzall blade with the exhaust on the car. Really didn't want to drop the whole exhaust, a little tricky but worked well with out cutting the heat shields. Prior installing I wanted to give AA a call for correct cutting measurements. Andrew help me since the PDF manual on line was a little confusing seemed the MC2 has different measurements coming off the rear welds of the resonator over the m3/m4. Glad I called they send me a different manual via email than what was listed on the site. Drive side is 6 inch back from weld and driver-side is 1 1/2 back. All went well, only leak which i foreseen prior installing was the ball joint fitting connections. I understand why they are used though they were not perfectly round and would not seal perfectly regardless how tight you make those band clamps. Took them apart and added sealer. Other then that it was pretty much text book easy install.

The sound.... Its just about perfect considering what what removed (two secondary cats and resonator. Thought it would honestly be lowered. AA did a great job of adding this 1 large pipe connection which seems to help remove rasp and add a lower tone. Its not loud at wot, yet the burbles are fatter and wetter on decel lol. There is a tone/hum and different rpm's, not really a drone but surely a new noise related to the exhaust which is pretty cool too.

Performance... surprisingly I could actually feel a small difference. She pulls great down low but kind of falls a little on its face upstairs but to be expected with the detuning via BMW.

All in all I'm very happy with the sound for this modification, doing an exhaust on can always have positives and negatives so for no negatives. If I want her quiet, its so easy to achieve just by closing the flaps in normal mode, BMW really made it super quiet in normal mode lol. For those that think the M2C exhaust is horrible they honestly just don't have a clue since I'm very happy with the stock cat back system with this mid pipe upgrade.

Thanks AA for the great product!
