PURE Inlet Pipe
I'm about to install a new FMIC and FTP charge pipes with the stock turbo, and I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to add the PURE inlet pipe while everything is already apart. I'm looking for feedback from those using the stock turbo with the PURE inlet for their thoughts and feedback?
This thread shows mixed results from others using the inlet pipe with the stock turbo: http://n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42512 This is the correct part, correct? https://www.pureturbos.com/store/oem...e-f30-f10.html

When using the FTP charge pipes, does the boost pipe (circled in red) replace the plastic pipe (also circled in red) used with the PURE inlet?

The Pure inlet section is the inlet to the turbo. The FTP pipes are the other side of the turbo. One to go from the turbo to the FMIC, and one to go from the other side of the FMIC to the throttle body.

Your first link is pure turbo inlet with t-bolt clamp only. It requires to cut your stock inlet pipe and attach them together.
Second link is the same inlet but with pure already have done the attachment with OE inlet so that you dont have to worry about modifying your stock part to fit the pure one. (plug and play) This option will add $125 to the price of the inlet only option. Eventually the same part but one offers a change for you to keep the OE part in case you need to switch back. |

Thanks. Now I’m sure what I would need, I’m still looking for feedback from anyone using the inlet with the stock turbo?

I used it with stock turbo, not sure of the benefits from a numbers standpoint but it definitely doesn't hurt to do.

http://babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.p...lit=pure+inlet Given that M2's n55 turbofold flows better than x35i versions and yet M2 makes do with same OEM inlet pipe [sized to suit smaller N55 PWG unit fitted to pre mid 2013 cars] the Pure hi flo inlet should benefit my M2 n55 more so than it did my M135i, esp as I'll be tuning M2 at some point in the future once all my bolt ons are installed....

Have anyone tried the newer pure turbo Inlet pipe? I have been thinking this vs FTP Inlet with my stock turbo. I'm running GBO stage 2 so any suggestion would be appreciated!

I didn't know there was a newer one. I heard ramblings of a one piece unit, that didn't require you to cut the stock plastic pipe, but rather replace it entirely. Is that what they did? Is the inlet larger than the old style?

I installed it when I did a turbo swap. Installing it separate will be a pain, close to impossible I would say. The force needed to get it into the turbo and the angle with everything around it in place will be a challenge.

Since the OEM or even ftp turbo inlet pipe diameter matches the size of the OEM turbine, and the pure pipe matches the size of the ps2/TTE turbine I would say no when it comes to power gains on OEM turbo. Since ftp/pure are not plastic they will not brake and that is one point of getting one.

I run OEM turbo and upgraded into FTP one, I'm pretty happy about the result and more harder in high rev band. BTW I added charge, boost pipes all together!
