I actually had more of the subie/boy racer crowd challenge me when I had an M235i. Now with a LBB M2C they stare at the car or give me thumbs up but they usually don't even bother to try and race.

Mine is a grey 2018. I live in NJ right near NY. You see Ferrari's, Lambo's, McLaren's etc not so rarely around here, as well as loads of M4's, so the M2 isn't a super shocker. My indy BMW mechanic even mistook for it for an M4 at first when I came with it to pick up the F30 328i. But it still gets more second looks and 'nice car' comments than any random car, for sure. And I think it looks awesome, which counts most since I shelled out for it.
But before I got the M2 I drove the 328i to visit our daughter in rural Minnesota and people there were making somewhat of a big deal about *that* car. I imagine the M2 would turn more heads in places like that. |

My 20 year old son asked if he could do donuts in an empty parking lot we were passing... I mulled it over, and decided what the heck, you only live once! (no snow in Los Angeles,so it isn't like every winter we're doing donuts in the supermarket parking lot)
I pulled into the parking lot and got out, allowing him to move into the drives seat. We noticed an older lady slowly walking across the parking lot. Not wanting to hear complaints from her, I told my son to wait until she crossed.... She walks across the lot, then just stands there! After about 90 seconds, I told him to go ahead with his "donuts"... she was very far from us, but we were still within her view. He starts driving the M2 is circles, scaring the sh!t out of me....but we're both laughing hysterically! I finally tell him to stop... hey, I guess I'm a chicken! He stops, and we both notice the little old lady, but now she's laughing hysterically! She walks over, and says "That was great! That was fantastic!"... she tells me that it's so great that I teach my son how to properly drive a car! (Not honestly what was going through MY mind, as we were spinning in circles!) You just never know how people are going to react! |

I dont get any attention my way with the M2 and that's fine by me. I also live in an area that is overflowing with all kinds of Porsches, BMWs, and garden variety exotics that can be seen on daily basis. I got this car for me...not them.

While driving next to a van, two guys rolled down their windows and said how much they liked the car. Definitely more of a dude magnet than anything else imho...

I get challenged at the lights. Usually by young kids in Subarus. To their disappointment I don't play those games.
If I see someone respectfully admiring the car I'll flip the MPE valves, switch it to traction mode and give them some pops and crackles |

I can't believe this narcissistic thread is into its 29th page.
Reading through some of the comments, I'm sure all you guys will get noticed in your 'driver-focus' M car, with that inflated head of yours, sticking out the window because it's too big to fit inside the vehicle J/k |

Oh dear Poochie Poochie- some of us have low ego resiliency so we fit very nicely in our M cars.

I see a couple hundred posts that contradicts that claim. "I want an M car for the hardcore handling and performance" *29 pages later* "Does my M car make me look fat?" Now I know why their is a large vanity mirror on the driver's side. |

Everyone has different reasons for wanting/liking their car...I dont begrudge anyone for having a differing opinion. These are fantastic cars...and some people (especially car enthusiasts) may stop and take notice. But on the overall scale of "stop you in your tracks" looks, the M2 is just another nice, yet attainable car that is on the road. The most important person is me, and I stop and admire my car all the time, but I admire it because of how it drives and makes me feel...and it just so happens to look nice too. Honestly, what anyone else thinks about my car is irrelevant. It's because of feelings such as these that we have Pontiac Aztec clubs...to those people, they absolutely love their cars. To me, they appear to be road vomit...but that is the beauty in being a car enthusiast.

Had some people try to race me in the WRX I previously owned but haven't experienced it in the M2. Granted, I haven't had the car for that long. The attention I've gotten has been positive, with people saying, "nice car", or striking up a quick conversation

LBB here. Got a thumbs up out the window from a guy in an e92 comp pack driving in the other direction on the street last week. Also got a thumbs up and some revs from a guy in an R8 when we pulled up at a light next to eachother.
Overall, I'd say the LBB adds to the noticeability A LOT. |

Mine is wrapped in Atlantis Blue. I get tons of attention either from my bright blue color or because it's an M2. I normally see people behind me taking pictures of my car at traffic lights. I get people wanting to race me, people giving me thumbs up, all compliments.

Since my fiance got her M2, I have direct, day to day comparisons with my F80.
No one gives two shits about the M3. People are nuts about the M2. Gawking, tail-gaiting, trying to snap a picture, and yes of course - wanting to race. Happens with my dad's M2 all the time too - reminds me of how it worked with my 981.

Perhaps it's the size? Not many "small" coupes from the brand these days? I'm not sure...but it does interject a little fun into the monotony of the daily drive, and I think that was the true purpose of the thread (in my humble opinion), not that the car is an extension of our collective egos. I haven't read all 29 pages though...

I was messing around with the kids, a M2 does look like a spaceship to someone who's accustomed to basic cars. Part of when they designed the look of the M2, was for it to be recognizable, for it to stand out from the herd. Its really a cool car and it has more than enough power for you to get in trouble. |
