KW v3 Install Question

Planning on installing my coils soon. I've scoured the f80 DIYs and YouTube install videos but one part continues to confuse me. When seating the new perches for the front suspension, the DIYs say to line up the sway bar position and to measure 3" down from the lip. Another DIY said 85mm. Some don't mention it. I'm confused as to what to go with. Any ideas?

No this is for the full coilover, I should clarify. When putting the new strut into the hub with the pinch bolt, how far down do you go?

The KW V3 has an aluminium collar at the bottom of the front struts that locates into the casting of the front upright, so there's no need to measure. You just make sure it seats.

The black part in this picture. I know it's a picture of MPS, but MPS is KW V3 with a different finish and springs/seats

Awesome okay that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying! I'll make a full DIY with pics of the install for future DIYers.

Any thoughts on ideal settings for damping/compression for a more comfortable street ride on rough roads?

Well, BMW publish two settings for the MPS, one track and one road.

Road is:
Front axle
Rebound 9 clicks open
Compression 6 clicks open
Rear axle
Rebound 12 clicks open
Compression 6 clicks open

All settings from full hard.

Compression 4 clicks open

As above, all settings from full hard.
