Screen Protector for iDrive Screen

I've searched but haven't seen anyone here that has a screen protector for the iDrive screen. Perhaps an anti glare would work or even a clear one. Any suggestions?

Let me know what you think. Like you said and also from reviews it's not anti glare so direct sun light will be an issue.

It was one of those things that I realized would be somewhat pointless after I ordered, it wasn't like I doodled with a stylus, and my vehicles are generally clean except for the 4WD's, more importantly, I reach for buttons more often than not.

Since it arrived I decided to give it a try. It was at night when I fitted it and everything lined up and adhered properly, only 1 single speck of dust at lower corner so I left things be. Clarity was fine other than slightly added gloss.

This morning when I was driving to work, the sun was behind me, and whenever there is direct sunlight (not artificial light), there is a purple hue. So between the purple hue and increased gloss, I don't expect it will be on for long.

You may still want to try it since it is rather inexpensive.

Thanks for the feedback. There should be a company that makes an anti glare one as opposed to glass. That would make more sense.

Finally remembered to take a snap and this is how it looked with the sun behind me.

I see the pic just fine; based on that, I wouldn’t waste your time with the screen protector.

Thanks for pointing out the upload was fine. I agree this is a waste of time.

I dont think this is a waste of time. Anti-glare "screen protectors" are very effective in reducing the harsh reflections.

I have an iPad mounted in the dash of my Land Cruiser for example and its nearly unusable in the daytime with out the anti glare screen protector.

The iDrive screen in my M5 is a bit shiny so I too am on the hunt for an anti glare solution.

I'm also on board with the utterly useless camp. The screen already has an anti-glare coating.

It's a car not a museum piece. It would be really unusual to scratch the touchscreen, I mean I don't even touch mine 99% of the time don't know about you guys.

Not sure whom you are responding but the “anti-glare” coating you speak of in an F90 is non existent. I agree that protecting the screen is unneeded for general use but defining the application as “useless” doesn’t account for someone’s preference to reduce glare and annoyance there of. The F87 maybe different, not sure if it glares.

It might not be easily noticeable (probably a good thing...) but I have a tempered glass screen protector (bought on eBay, from a Chinese seller) since day one. Took extra care while installing, used the included cleaning kit/ dust remover sticker, and it worked out OK (no bubbles or dust specks).

I put one on my screen as well. Cheap insurance. Definitely not going to hurt anything. I did it for fingerprints and scratches.
