Is Blue Paper masking Tape safe for paint?

Gentleman, I need help on this topic please,

I plan to do PCD on my 2020 M2C this July, order placed, initially was ED, but then changed it to PCD.

Just for fun:
HS w/CF
Orange stitching
Manual Tranny
Executive package
Bi-color wheels
No sunroof
MSRP
(Deposited on 01/19/2019, Got the allocation on 02/06, & order accepted by BMW AG on 02/12)

I live in Dallas and plan to do the PCD in SC, so the drive will be 14 hours going home. I plan to do PPF right after I get back to Dallas, but don't want to take a risk of the 14 hours highway drive back with possible rock chips, so I was thinking taping the whole front part of the car with blue paper masking tape (the one that you could get @ a hardware store). BUT The temperature in Texas during July can be up to 100-108, I am worry about the adhesive glue might damage the pain with such high heat? I have seen members on this forum did that for long drive, but not sure about with high heat weather. Any thoughts? Please advise!

Thanks
Ryan

The car is clearcoated and any remaining glue (if any) would be removed before PPF is installed anyway. Because the car needs to be cleaned real good before installation.

My concern is that masking tape isn't durable enough to protect the car. My middle school math tells me a car in front of you driving 70mph shoots a rock out, that rock is going 70mph now, and your car is also doing 70mph. That's a 140mph collision. Which I doubt masking tape can withstand.

Order some tracwrap and don't risk it with painter's tape.

Buy some track wrap from amazon - it's what I used during ED in the alps. TONS of bugs and rocks/dirt (ended up on a logging trail to take a shortcut) and it peels right off.

Just search for "track wrap" - mine was made by xpel which happens to be the same company that made the ppf on the car now.

Blue "Painter's Tape" will work just fine and come off clean. Used it numerous times to cover the front end of my Golf for a few business trips from Houston to San Antonio in the summer heat. Worked great, never had an issue removing.

Good to know, I was worry about the 2 days driving in extreme heat will melt the tape to my paint, it would be ironic that I was trying to protect the paint and end up ruin it lol, thanks.

I also used tracwrap from delivery to PPF installer 120 miles away. Dont need to bother with perfect installation of it since it comes off anyway.

I did TrackWrap plus painters tape since it was easier to work with around some of the contours.
