3M film on the front bumper and hood. Within 6 months (6,000 miles) had two pencil eraser sized dings in and through the ppf. I personally won't do ppf again - just not worth it in my eyes.

No PPF here!

But, if I didn't wrap it, I would have PPF. Heck I'm considering putting PPF over the front bumper cover. Wrap is thinner than PPF.

PPF is worth it IMO. Won't save you from everything but will prevent most rock chips

80% of my mileage is freeway, and with the last few vehicles I’ve owned the front bumper has looked like a golf ball after 2 years.

My new-to-me M2 came with 9k miles, which I can only assume was mostly city driving, since there were just 2 small chips on the front. First thing I did was pick up some touch up paint, fill the chips, and the car is coming back from PPF tomorrow (suntek ultra).

If you don’t do much freeway driving, or live in place that doesn’t have winter, I probably wouldn’t bother. I want to keep this thing mint though and with my climate and driving I don’t think I’ll regret the PPF.

It comes with some on the rear arches as standard?

Also, I find it best to start the day with tea and then move on to coffee mid-morning. What does everyone else do?

No PPF on the m2. I planned to do the whole front end, then ended up getting a big rock chip on the front bumper before the appointment for it. Said screw it, and haven’t had another rock chip since. *sigh*

I do plan to Ceramic Pro it over the winter. Won’t help the chips but adds protection against all the environmental hazards like bird bombs and tree sap. Want to keep her glossy af!

took delivery of the car on Monday, drove it for 500 meters to the detailing shop. Getting front end PPF and rear bumper. Nano ceramic for the rest of the car.

My car is color wrapped by myself. not as thick as PPF but still prevents swirls and bird poop acids.

If you are in NJ and looking for an affordable PPF or wrap job with top quality, let me know, or look at my Instagram: AtlantisM2.

How does it fare for scratching etc? With paint you can always polish a section. With the wrap do you basically need to redo the panel? Is the 3m "self healing" like XPEL and Suntek?

Your car looks awesome BTW!

The self healing only works on light scratches and doesn't do anything for a rock hit. I no longer consider self healing a selling point.

You can lightly polish vinyl as long as it’s not matte/chrome etc. but you will only get minor improvements. Biggest concern is the heat generated as you can easily warp the film if you go too hard on it. More meant to be just a sacrificial barrier.

Color wrap is half the thickness of PPF. Definitely weaker but it does give you protection from environment. Color wrap has self healing properties when it gets fine scratches as long as it didn't penetrate through the wrap. All you need is keep it outside for an hour under the sun in the summer time. Or hot water or heat gun. I love it because I don't have to worry about bird poop acid melting my paint or inevitable swirls from washing.

Thank you for your compliment.

Level of difficulty wrapping the m2? Especially the front bumper. I’ve considered trying my hand at it for fun but I’m afraid I’ll get in over my head.
Front bumper is indeed the hardest part. You should practice small areas before wasting a big piece of the material.
