Remus Race - stock DP, stock midpipe - worth it? Satisfying enough?

Hi all,

Finding it difficult to find any reviews or feedback on Remus Race for an M2C (no OPF) with stock downpipe/midpipe … can it be 'too loud or obnoxious' for daily driving?

Do you need to pair it with an aftermarket midpipe (as most people on the forums at least seem to to)

eg single AA, or

resonated or non-resonated equal length AA midpipe

Or is a stock midpipe satisfactory?

Thanks in advance!

in my opinion, you get the best sound by pairing it with the single midpipe.

if you are worried about it being too loud for your taste, start with the axle back on its own and you can on the midpipe after

Thanks Mike

I know its subjective but what percent louder would be with Remus Race + AA single midpipe (or other midpipe) vs Remus Race axle back only?

And even more subjectively, how would you or otger out there describe/expect the tonal difference to be?

It's not about being louder it's just a completely different sound when you compare the equal length to the single midpipe

Vs stock, I would say its 20% louder when adding the midpipe (50% on cold start)

vs equal length is tricky since it changes the tone of the car.

If you hear a full setup and you like it, get the exact same thing or as advised start by the muffler and then decide what you want to do from there. Depending on how much louder you want it to be, we can discuss the midpipes then

I have had my Remus Race, stock midpipe for almost 1 year and I love it. It is a little bit louder, but not a huge difference in efficient. In sport, sport plus it is louder and you hear the burbles much more. I mostly keep mine in efficient and I coded out the burbles.
My wife liked it so much that we got one for her VW Golf R as well.
I got mine from Mike at X-PH and had an excellent experience!

I think the mid pipe will make more difference than the rear section.. I still have stock exhaust but with AA mid and it sounds pretty decent - it's cheaper also..

Is that with AA Single or Equal Length mid?

Yeah this is where it gets a bit confusing - I've heard some say that the midpipe only doesnt increase volume that much (esp inside the car).

I just have the Remus race axel back. Personally, I would not want it any louder.

Did you mean comparing completely stock DP/midpipe/muffler vs adding a single AA midpipe only?

Should I assume Remus Race axle back + single AA midpipe therefore also '20% louder' than Remus Race axle back only (with stock midpipe/DP etc) ?

Thanks... sounds pretty positive ... have you experimented with valves on and off in sport and sport plus ...

eg

- through the Bimmerlink app or

- a valve controller such as:

I have the remus race rear box with stock everything else.

I think it's perfect for me, getting a midpipe would be good to change the tone and make it louder but I'm content with just the muffler.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

Do you experience much drone? Do you turn off ASD?

Have you experimented with valves on or off, or burble on or off in efficient/sport/sport plus? For example with Bimmerlink.

I'd like more volume / aggression in tone when on the freeway but be able to tone it down and not be too obnoxious around residential streets.

When I first started exploring options I visited a guy who had this setup on his M2C. He loved it. I thought it was really loud and did not like anything about it. I agree with Mike's later suggestion to try the muffler first and add mid if you think it needs it.

Opinions on these options are all over the board. After trying several options I find I like some things other people dislike and dislike some things other people like. I still have not found one I love.

The other point not mentioned above are the CATs.
If you change the mid section you will lose the CATs
