Dinan uses piggyback tune, no change of source code involved

And that wasn't what I was talking about.

infinitekidM2C's dyno is correct for M2C, they usually baseline at ~400whp on a dynojet. Gains are healthy for a S1 OTS file on 91oct.

So, if the ECU has been updated by BMW, there is no way to Use the BM3 flash?

That’s been my experience. Others too. Hopefully a workaround sooner than later. After having the extra push from BM3 (esp stage 1) going back to stock feels somewhat boring.

so many threads on this point..

there's moral debates too

bottom line, if you want to keep your warranty, don't mess with it, or buy a product that comes with its own warranty like Dinan.

My buddy who flashed his M2c with BM3 stage 1 map raced my stock M2c. Both Manual transmission.

We did 2 runs from 20-130 mph on a private course. Second gear rolling start and he was 2-4 car lengths ahead of me at the end of the run. Not sure if this is a huge significant difference? We was cool to see and compare a stock M2c to a tuned stage 1 M2c.

2 lengths is meh
4 is much better.

shifting skills similar?

what's the HP/torque of a stage 1 anyway?

I would say it was like 3 car lengths in front of me. Slightly slightly pulling on me over 100. But the outcome was not a huge difference.

Hi. Is there any way to add an audible alert when reaching a particular RPM? I know that my last tune, years old, could do this. It's quite helpful for shifting purposes. Especially in this car as it pulls like a biatch. Thoughts?

Is that all? Not worth to flash or piggyback and waste the warranty in my view

Has anyone told BMW not to update their software? If so what's their response and what are we going to be "missing out on"?

Try telling them to update your software. They usually say no, unless you want to pay for labor.

I have to imagine it would immediately raise flags on why you wouldn’t want the update. I doubt they’d actually flag it in the system, but would definitely raise some eyebrows.

Kind of like telling someone “don’t look in the trunk, oh... no reason”.

I did just that on my last service visit upon dropoff. I simply said there have been complaints about the recent updates and that my preference is to not have a software update. My advisor said no problem and that they only did updates if a repair they had to do required it, not just because one was available.

Same here. In uk anyway it's classed as a "quality enhancement" not compulsory update.

They were fine about it. I said to them I'd look into it and get back to them
