I'm not surprised, the ROI of these trade/auto shows is low. I have worked for many companies that used to do the "big" trade shows and pulled out.

Exactly, for much less money you can get a lot more reach via digital marketing also generating sales leads at the same time.

I understand why more companies are pulling out of these shows, but it IS disappointing as a consumer. I always look forward to the Chicago show because it's so much fun to be able to see all the different options, in the same place and on the same day.

Of course you can see the vast majority of the offerings at your local dealer - but you lose the ability to see so many, and all at once.

The shows are also fun because you get to meet other folks who are "into" cars like we are here on the forum - it seems like I meet someone cool every single year, and have good conversations...

I agree. I just attended the auto show in Atlanta and was surprised to see BMW was not there.

Many manufacturers are pulling out of that show. The organizers are thinking of moving it to the Fall to stop some of the bleeding. Factories complain about the ROI of these shows but we go to the local new car shows every year which is my chance to get my wife in a lot of different cars, she has picked her last three cars at the show so while they don't see that stuff on paper I suspect they are pretty effective.
